I was driving to my friends house yesterday after noon and saw a C5 vert driving along and thought to my self "hmmm i haven't raced one of these yet."So I looked over at my girlfriend and told her to look what was up there and, I started speeding up to catch him. She looked back at me and said "I knew this was coming." So I'm do about 65 got up next to him and slowed down and droped it to 3rd and gave him a rev. He looks over with a smile on his face like I'm not worth the race. I punch it in 3rd and hit 4th look back and he's just sitting there. So I slow down put it into 5th and look back and here he come flying up on my tail. I dorped it to 3rd again and bark the tires (I'm thinkin to my self, "And their off) I hit 4th look in my mirror and he's about a half a car length farther than when we started. I shifted to 5th and I'm pushing my pedal through the floor i look back one last tim and he's a full carlength away now and I look and my speedometer is just over 140mph and I look at my hood scoop and it looks like a pyrimid. It's opened but not braced to the hood yet. Then I tapped the brakes and then try to stoop to take a turn. We gave each other a wave and parted.

Nice kill! Man that must be one helluva ride. I bet those 4.1's are what gave you the edge over his 3.42's.

Not trying to be a douche, but if you only have the mods in your sig, I find it extremely hard to believe that you took down an LS1 Corvette on the highway. In stock form, they run high 12's at 108-110.
What does your car run in the 1/4?

There is always a non believer in the crowd. LOL First off it was a Convertable. Secondly... all the stock Vettes at my track run mid to low 13's and the worst drivers never even see mid 13's.

surely you aren't bringing driver skill into this

I've seen a 99 c5 coupe run no better than a 14.0@105 and I've seen a friend's bone stock c4 beat it running a 13.8 in the other lane. Anything is possible if the driver sucks... Proof of that is the evo that couldn't run better than a 10.2 in the 1/8th when I was at the track

I didn't mean to call BS or call him a liar, I know that with manuals, driver error is always a factor. Hell, I beat the only '03 Cobra that I've ever raced at the track (he ran a 13.9 @ 108). With a good driver, that Cobra woulda ruined me. Sorry if I came off the wrong way and good kill.

I don't think driver has much to do with a 70mph roll. Maybe he blew the tires off the back from 70?

wasn't he way back in his rear view mirror when he started coming up? so he caught up to him all but a car length in just a short time. if they both went from the same roll at the same time. buh bye. still nice stuff. vette drivers are noice.

Yeah, but an evo should run way faster than that and would own guys like us in the 1/8 mile. Thats why it is funny.

I'd guess it was an Auto, those 2.73 rear gears suck from a stop or roll.

Either way it sounds like fun. Especially if you had your women with you.

What's up with the hood scoop looking like a pyramid? I've only had mine up to like 130. Never seen it pyramid b4.

This story is very interesting. I noticed one item that nobody else did. You shifted to 5th and was one car length ahead. Isn't 5th overdrive? Looks like you would have slowed down. I thought most cars top speed is the highest non overdrive gear. I know my camaro won't go 160 in 6th. Just wondering.

thats what i said too. with 4:10s you loose your top end but gain acceleration. Maybe thats why you had to go into 5th.
