140+ with 4.10's????????

thats what i said too. with 4:10s you loose your top end but gain acceleration. Maybe thats why you had to go into 5th.

Spoken like 2 guys that don't have gears!!

I love this argument. The deal with that is from the factory, a Mustang doesn't have enough power to over come the drag with the stock 3.23 gears. In theory you should lose top end with the 4.10's if you had enough horsepower to red line the car in 5th. Which you don't.

So by adding the 4.10 gears to the rear end it makes the power that the car has more useable. Easier to turn the taller gear, and actually increases the top end of a Mustang.

Now if it was say 600 hp...You would lose a lot of top end with the 4.10's.

Yeap. Everyone here knows the mods I had to my GT and I have two witness (one of which died this month) that my car has done 155+ with 4.10 gears without any sort of poweradder. Sorry, buddy... but 4.10 gears are probably THE best gear for the GT model mustang and up.

Did you have your spedometer adjusted? I know it says 155, but i chased an old dude in a taurus on the interstate at 135 after I got my 3.73s in. Not positive, but i dont think that is what we were actually going.

Ummm... Im no N00B. I have an SCT chip that I bought from MD that was 4.10 corrected. So yes... my speedometer is correct and has been verified with a GPS. Would you like to see that video also?

The speedo could still be way off at a much higher speed than you went in the video.

Hmmm.... No need to get pissy. There is always the chance that someone forgets that. I assumed you were running a T-5, and with 4.10s, 155 is somewhat of a stretch.
If you can pull it off, more power to you! Just sounded a little off to me.

Sidewayz I never knew that thanks for the info I will get 410's now. I was worried about loosing too much top end.

Yeah, but they're a waste. Why bother?

A waste.... I dunno, about twenty some odd people seem to really think highly of them in the "gears" thread. And i didnt want the 12 mpg the 4.10s have to offer.

Most guys who have done 4.10's will tell they do not get 12 mpg, the truth is that it will only be about 200 rpm higher at 60 mph, than your 3.73. Don't be scared of the 4.10's they are the best gear for a N/A 5 spd car. One thing to remember about the "20 somthing people" who like 3.73's, is that most of them are probably noobs and really don't know what they are talking about. Hell if it were me I would run 4.30's

I'm just giving you hell. If you did you did, if you didn't, well....idk. Anyway, I just have a hard time believing your 278rwhp car kept up with a 300rwhp, much lighter car, that's known for it's top end. But I've seen stranger things happen.

Get some 6.10's and slicks. You might even pull the wheels.
