So the gf bought me some subs, an amp and some speakers for my christmas present, but the speakers didnt fit, so she returned everything and shes going to buy me new stuff. You can all yell at me, but i will probably have this done at circuit city because they did my head unit and they did a very very good job with it. It needed a custom wiring harness and everything and the guys there were real chill and sounded like they knew what they were talking about.

But, im looking at my trunk, and hell i dont even think i can fit a 12 in there. Im thinking maybe 2 10's? Anyone have the measurmans of a notches trunk? or some pics of a setup? thanks

im not looking for anything rediciously loud... something decent with some bump to it, but nothing crazy.

How much is the budget?

What type of music?

Are you installing yourself?

The budget? For the amp and sub, lets say 300. This includes wiring and everything

I dont think ill be installing it myself, only because circuit city offers free installation when you buy their stuff. And the experience iv had with CC in the past was great. They made me a custom wiring harness for my HU and fixed my stock wriring harness that was all hacked up, they spent 5 hours trying to fix the problem of me not getting signal from my radio and tried 3 different harneses untill they made their own. They didnt charge me for the extra harnsesses either, or the extra time it took. They also broke my door handle (which was already broken) and paid for a new one in full, including the part, the labor, and even the paint. So i have nothing bad to say about CC.

Also there are no good shops around here that i trust. They all try to rip you off...

Music? Anything, really, except country. Anything and everything.

^Oxymoron^

CC will say what they need for you to give them money. Local shops will tell you what you need to get it done right.

Notice: Bold

Good shops just try and sell you the right stuff so your not back in there in 6 months with problems or the need to upgrade right away.

Because something seems more expensive up front doesn't mean its a rip off. Plus big box stores have something called huge margin they can fall back on. When you have a contract with say Rockford Fosgate saying you will purchase 1,000 wiring kits a week, you get them for pretty cheap. A mom and pop place where they buy 10 a week, they don't get that kind of deal, nor do they have the storage or 1000 stores to distribute them.

Good news though, in 5-10 years there will be maybe 50 of these good stores in the entire country, the rest will be big box and online stores. It's all thanks to cheap prices, cheap labor, "hand you a new one each week" warranties causing this.

There's a right way to get things done, and there's a way to get things done right.

it's all about where the word "right" is at in that sentence...

the only mom and pop shop in town is absolutly terrible. They tried selling me a 95$ headunit for 325$. The guy is a complete unprofessional asshole, who i refuse to go to. Not only did he try to sell me a severly overpriced peice of equipment, he fed me all sorts of wrong information that i KNOW is wrong. I just do not trust them with A. My car, and B. My money.

That being said.. iv been looking into it more, and i guess ill try to do this myself with a custom box. Few questions i need answered though...

In my stang, i have 3.5's in the front dash (the front left is blown), 5.25's in the door, and 5x7's or 6x8's in the back. Now what exactly would I need to upgrade? The 3.5's would be the front stage, along with the 5x7's for mid notes, and the 6x8's would be the bass and the rear stage. If im putting subwoofers in, do i need to run the 6x8's? In that case, I can get a mono amp for the sub, and a 4 channel amp to run the two dash speakers and the two door speakers.

Im looking at the eD sq10's, and im thinking of running two of them, for a total of 500 watts. How much will a decent amp in this range go? Ill run the speakers off of my deck for now, untill i get some extra $$ to buy an amp for them.

Cars with speakers in the dash are a bandaid way for a getting a decent sound stage. Remove and leave them out. Build up a solid front stage, with a decent 2 channel amp, a pair of SQ10's you can run off a nine.2 (assuming you want to run an eD amp)

Don't waste time or money running anything other than stock speakers off stock or headunit power. It is probably cheaper than you think...

You can get a decent component set for $100-$150, and an amp from $70-$150. Run say another eD amp and you can package stuff and save some $$$ as well.

No rear stage, unless you really want to know. But your talking another amp, some really solid mids and a good crossover to do it right. Atleast $500 or theres no point or decent rear stage out there.

Okay, so i should disconnect the dash speakers, run two decent door speakers off a 2 channel amp, leave alone or disconnect the rear speakers? and then run two sq10's in the trunk.

Shopping list:
2 x 5.25's
1 x 2 Channel Amp (any recomendations?)
2 x SQ10's (the 2 or the 4 voice coil? whats the difference)
1 x nine.2
Wiring kit
Box making materials, etc

And just to clear it up, this is the head unit i have.

2 x 5.25's ------Nope 6.5"
1 x 2 Channel Amp (any recomendations?)-------What does your budget allow?
2 x SQ10's (the 2 or the 4 voice coil? whats the difference) -----You really want SQ10's? Are you trying to save space or...?
1 x nine.2 --------------------This depends if you really want the SQ10's
Wiring kit --------------------Anywhere, 4 ga would work fine. You can get one from eD if you like, or from pretty much any online store, knu conceptz has tons that are very easy on the wallet.
Box making materials, etc
------------ Any hardware store that sells lumber, a sheet of 3/4" MDF should be more than enough to build a box for your rig. Some wood glue, screws (coarse, 1 1/2-1 5/8 is plenty), some silicon based sealant, carpet if you want to make it look pretty.

Will 6x5's fit in the door?
The 2 channel amp will be in the future, so probably 150-200$
The sq10's, i have almost no trunk space in the notch. I would like to leave as much as possible. Do you have any other nice 10's you would recommend?

Not 6x5's. 6.5's. 6 1/2's if you will.
NINe.2 if you like the eD products
Unless you have a depth restriction, why not go with a pair of 11Kv2's or 11ov2's... They're not really that much deeper, just makes a difference if your trying to put them in a regular cab truck.
