I bought a 1984 mustang gt hatchback.  The guy I bought it from converted it from TBFI to Carb.  I got the car to run now, but I have to have the idle set up to about 2,000 RPM in order for it to not die when I put it in drive.  In drive the car idle's at 900 to 1000rpm.  What would cause the motor to die out when I put it in drive????  Could this be a bad ignition module?  The car has new plugs, wires and new MSD ignition coil.  From day one I had a timing issue which I fixed last night.  He didn't have the car at TDC when he installed the distributor...he was in a hurry.  I have that issue fixed, but the timing my need to be dialed in with a light still...could that be the problem?  I don't feel like it's timing because now when I drive the car it pops like it has a miss in it.  Someone let me know something????

Sounds like a vacum leak somewhere. What intake and carb?

Definately check for vacuum leaks. Also, have you set the idle mixture?

Remove the vac advance line and leave it plugged to see how it runs. I can't use any part throttle with mine so I just left it unhooked.
