GunnGT -> Will These Tires Fit? (4/5/2008 4:08:42 PM)

Hey guys this is my first post on the forums. But anyways, i just bought some 315/35R17/102V Nitto NT555R drag radials from a friend and he said they would fit my stock 17x8.5 rim. And I think they would bulge out like a mo fo and im not sure if they'd be to safe like that. I just got my GT 2 weeks ago and i dont wanna risk wreckin from a blow out. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

And that size a 17x11-12 is recommened.

I'm new to the whole mustang scene, I traded in my '97 Camaro SS for this car. I really don't know what a S197 is.

S197 is the model designation Ford gave during the design of the '05+ Stangs.

Your right about the bulge and unsafe thing. I have never seen an acceptable rim for a 315 tire except a 10.5" wide one. There may be one, and maybe you may squeeze one on a 10" or 9.5", but cannot believe it would even BEGIN to fit well on a 8.5" rim, let alone be safe. But maybe since these are drag radials, they have a different fitment recommendation. Lemme know.

They look unsafe I can assure you that.

GunnGT -> RE: Will These Tires Fit? (4/6/2008 4:07:11 PM)

Here's a few pics. They look pretty good IMHO

Yeah, thats waaay too much sidewall bulge.  Not going to handle very well at all.  Straight lines will be fine.

Jazzer The Cat -> RE: Will These Tires Fit? (4/7/2008 6:12:14 AM)

What is the last pic????? are you thinking about installing them on your BBQ? [:D]

Do look a little "bulgy", but if you are happy, that is all that counts (agreed on the handling thing, will probably be a little unstable on hard cornering)

oops, double post [8D]

GunnGT -> RE: Will These Tires Fit? (4/7/2008 1:34:40 PM)

i'm gonna only use them for the track on the weekend. i got a second set of rims with my street tires to drive around town thats all they're going to be used for is straight line. can't wait to see how they hook!

mustang_pa -> RE: Will These Tires Fit? (4/11/2008 6:06:48 AM)

Wow that looks really unsafe even for a straight line.  That is going to pop off the rim.  I would suggest getting 10.5 inch rims.  Better safe than sorry.

Norm Peterson -> RE: Will These Tires Fit? (4/11/2008 9:05:23 AM)

It's probably a good thing I can't view photobucket files here at work (corporate internet filtering).  But I'll bet that it almost looks like the wheel is sitting on top of a balloon.   [sm=badidea.gif] even in a straight line.

Edit for Gunn's benefit - more than likely they'd hook better on the 11" wide rims that they were designed for.
