Haha a thread for my truck... w00t!

Well my truck is gonna go thru a few moderate changes so this... is the thread.

Well, its running great... gets me to work and gets me around. I was gonna buy a glasspack for it this paycheck but I needed to pay insurance this month.

That was my usual check though... these last 2 weeks I have been working my ass off and have worked 40hrs each week. So in about 2 weeks, i'll have a fatty check. I am gonna get a glasspack and take it down to the muffler shop and have them put it on and weld it on. I wanna go to a boneyard and find a tailgate for it also. Buy a few little things for it and ditch that stock air cleaner system and get a chrome one. Give it a FULL tune-up and flush the oil system and the radiater. And leave the rest over money for gas and misc...

The paycheck after that, I wanna search craigslist and see if I can find a set of some nice tires (not big ass super swampers, just some nice chrome ones with maybe so wider ones in the back) lmao. And I'll see if i can buy a stereo and some speakers since rollin with a portable CD player, and some computer speakers is pretty gay...

Anyway, this summer I wanna do some body work with it and paint it. (flat black?)

But yeah, one of these weekends when its nice i wanna take it up to the strip and see what i can get for a baseline and then i'll bring it back with a few mods.. (headers...)

Well, thats about it... I'll have to go get some vids and pics of this weekend. I dont have to work. I'll see if I can take a few vids of it tomorrow of my muddin lmao.

Some F150's and bronco's have the 10 hole rims that look nice, or find some '99-2000 Lightning rims(you can find them for $200 sometimes)and then burr out a hole of each to fit.

hellion_79
04-08-2008, 06:07 PM
Any truck rims would be nice. I dont really like the lightning rims too much. I dont want any "4x4" rims either. I want to get some larger wheels in the back so it has the street truck look. But ANY rims are better then the ones i have now lmao.

Well, on wed i get paid.... its gonna be a fatty check. I am gettin a full tune-up, oil change, couple goodies for under the hood, glasspack, and I am buying paint, primer, and bondo. rattle can... lmao.

I need to pound out the dent in the front clip, sand it, bondo it, and then prime the whole truck and paint it.... i am stuck on a color tho... what color? I was thinkin mettalic dark blue....? I just need some suggestions. Thanks guys.

btw... NO GLASSPACKS... u will hate how they sound... thats what i had on the lincoln first... and i got pissed off at them, pulled them off, and thats how they ended up with pipes shoved through them... u couldn't hear the exhaust at all.. and i still didn't have any cats.... >.<

O.otwo 5" stacks coming out of the bed would be sweet:D

Damn right, if it was dual glasspacks it would sound to poppy.... a single glasspack would be more deeper and throatier then duals.

Anyway, I have found some parts I am gonna buy for it. Just a couple power adders. Basically a high performance tune-up. I ordered an MSD dist cap w/ retainer. And on wed I am gonna get some parts from schucks to clean up under the hood. Basically a better flowing air filter with the chrome casing, mallory coil, taylor plug wires, NGK plugs, motorcraft dist rotor, edelbrock fuel filter w/ braided lines, and if I can make the budget, i wanna get some chrome valve covers for $30 they have. And enough oil to flush and refill the motor. (maybe a few cans of seafoam.

Also, 6 cans or more of primer, 6 cans or more of paint, a little tub of bondo to clean up the dent and fix the rust hole on the driver side front fender, and enough clear coat for 2 coats.

For the next paycheck, I am ordering the left and right grill inserts from LMC truck (since mine are all banged up), and a heavyduty plastic tailgate (black).

The weather here right now is ****... yesterday it was in the 70's and now its raining pretty bad. The 7day forcast says its gonna be sunny wed, thurs, and friday.... those are the days I work [>:].

So I was hoping to install the glasspack on thurs or friday before work. I have no idea of the weather next week, but thats when i will see if I have time to do the tune-up and oil change. My parents wont let me use the garage.... that sucks.

And I'll get around to painting the truck whenever I have time and if its NICE out.

But yeah, i have done my shopping over the internet last night and I just need to wait to get paid to go and buy and order it all. I have enough money on my debit to order the MSD dist cap so that will be here soon.

your gonna need more than 6 cans to paint the truck... it took me 7 to do the mustang and 12 to do the lincoln.

btw hellion. if you want good sounding exhaust. put a cherrybomb glasspack on it, not a thrush. or a patriot cherrybomb.

you said it had a 351 cleveland? r u sure its not a windsor? i didn't know they put the clevelands in the f100's.

but if u want the most bang for your buck.. heres what i would do.

edelbrock performer RPM intake
edelbrock 600cfm 4 barrel carb
ford racing long tube headers
complete msd ignition, distributor, coil, and control module.
and look into a floor shifter conversion kit. they aren't too expensive.

and change your rear end out for a 3.73 with posi...

ur truck has what a 9" rear, with either 2.83? ratio, or a 3.08 its a 2wd... so its not a 3.55

Just about every glasspack if its the same length and width is gonna sound the same

Remember, its a DAILY DRIVER.... I dont need to completely modify it. I like it the way it is now, I just wanna be above stock. I just want it to sound nice, and look alright. And have a few extra ponies. And yes, its a 351c, it looks way to small to be a 302. On the emission tags and in the door jams it says "351 cleveland 5.8L Gasoline".

And Yep, 9" ford rear end. I dont wanna do a gear swap either, if i make the gears lower, I cant take it on the highway, if I make the gears higher, i wont have as much torque.

Me and my dad wanna build a motor this summer. A streetable 302 to drop in either this truck, or a older Mustang.

The MSD cap/rotor, coil, with new plugs, 8mm wires is a very good idea. Then you can play with the timing and spark plug gap to get better mpg (http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63592).And if you want more put a Y-pipe in the exhaust.

The dist cap wont give me much extra of anything, its mainly to make motor look nicer. For it to be a good ignition system, I would have to complete it with a MSD dist, higher output coil, and MSD plug wires. Also you can install the computer inside of the dist to tune it and add a rev limiter. But I could care less.

And the truck isnt any kind of a sleeper, it would probly run 17's at its best, so an exhaust wouldnt matter, I just like the "muscle car V8" sound better then a stock muffler.

Actually I suggested the MSD cap/rotor cause a new one in general is a good idea, doesn't have to be MSD, they just happen to be the leader in ignition items.
Also parts wear out after 34yrs so you could be pleasantly suprised[8D]

Well tomorrow morning is when I start doing everything. I spent about $150 today on everything

edelbrock fuel filter
26" cherry bomb glasspack
5 quarts of valvoline 10w 30 oil
Taylor plug wires
E3 plugs
I got my money back for the other dist I ordered from Napa cause schucks has the same one for $10 cheaper and on a 1yr warranty. (it will be in tomorrow at 1pm)
2 cans of seafoam
oil filter
Mallory coil
and other little odds and ends...

I am gonna see how much the muffler guy down the street will charge me to remove the old exhaust and weld in the glasspack.... if he wants too much I'll just do everything on my own and use muffler clamps.

Next week... edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers.... I might run the truck at the track this weekend if the weather will let me.

But yeah tomorrow.... fulll tune-up and oil change... along with a glasspack.

I put it in the oil... it didnt do anything but slow the RPM's down for a minute and there is no smoke coming from the exhaust..

other then that, I had that glasspack put on this morning, the muffler guy had a minumum shop fee of $45 but since i helped him put it on he charged me $25.

The truck sounds so much throatier and more like a V8.... it has a real muscle truck sound to it. It sounds the best at low RPM's and it sounds nice when you shift gears coming down from High RPM's and has lots of crackle.... I am impressed with it ;)

But yeah i changed the oil and i am waiting for when schucks can order me the right distributer cap to change the plugs, wires, and cap.... schucks always orders the wrong part everytime (****ing ******s)

I'll get an exhaust clip up soon.

I don't like Rust-Oleum. My dad and I painted his old 71 f-100 with rust-oleum and it was not durable at all and was hard to spray.
I'm using a Nason Ful-cryl single stage on my car and it is easy and cheap, and I've heard that since they are just the buget minded Dupoint that it is a decent quality paint

Alright thanks level, I'll look into it.

Well i got some new tires for my truck. My dads rims on his van were **** so he bought a newer set off craiglist and they come with NEW tires... literally they have about 98% tread on them. He is puttin his tires on the rims and giving the tires to me. They are the same exact size as my other tires so on my next payday i'll take those in and have em swap them on for me. I'll probly paint the rims gloss black too :D

I needed better tires, when its wet and rainy out and I turn corners the tires like to spin when I let off the clutch with very little throttle. It makes pulling out in traffic impossible.

Thats right, a 4bbl will get you better gas mileage for cruising. The only time its gonna suck the gas hard is when you full throttle it opening everything the carbs got.

Anyway i went and bought a nicer air cleaner for under the hood.

I think the color is ugly, and all the guy did to fix little holes in the body was use fiberglass filler. So I have to sand that ghetto **** down and apply the correct body filler.

Also want to add a hood scoop to it also. I was thinking of cutting a hole in the hood (the same size as my filter) and having foam go around the peremiter of the hole under the hood that way it seals up with the filter (like the older muscle cars with functional hood scoops) and then throwing a hood scoop over it, so that way all the truck will be sucking in is fresh air ;).

Also have plans for flat black trim to follow the body lines along with making the hood scoop flat black. Trust me, midnight blue with flat black is gonna make this truck look meaner then a pissed off sasquatch.

And as for the tailgate, I am working on finding one as we speak. I dont want to throw and original ford tailaget on it, I want to use one of those 5th wheel tailgates. Even tho its for a 5th wheel it will look nice. Basically a universal tailgate that will be flatblack as well. And if I piss around trying to find one of those too long... I will have a friend weld me one up with some tubing.

And 90LX2.3...... bring it [8D]

With a grill and some bigger rubber i think that would be a kick ass looking truck

I actually like the paint as is, although you need more chrome on that 351, and try to find a tail gate

For some reason I thought your truck was green[sm=bangbang.gif], guess that shows how much I've followed[sm=bustedsign.gif]:(.

Get a new grill man, that thing looks like it ate too many rocks.

The Mach1 shaker setup would look awsome on your truck. The only thing with it though is you would have to attach it to your hood instead of the engine so it could pop out in the open....would still look sweet though:eek:.

Yeah they're bikes. Honda CB900 or Suzuki GS1100.

I was thinking of cutting all the slots out of the grill and putting a mesh insert in it.... but ricer popped up in my head so scratch that idea[&:]

I'll have to order new ones from LMC (they are like $35 each... not to bad)

Today i tackled the hard parts on my truck as far as body work. All day I have been sanding, and I put some filler in some spots... ide post pics but im too ****ing tired. I also removed the antenna and filled the hole. It looks much nicer :)Much cleaner. I'll find a different antenna for it later down the road that I can mount elsewhere...

But yeah the whole passenger side bed area is all done and primed, and it looks sooooo nice!! From what it looked like before, with all the dents and that fiberglass filler the guy who owned it before me but on to fill some holes (dumbass). I also filled the holes that he made to mount the canopy (dumbass) I also cleaned up the side where he brushed up against a tree all along the bed (dumbass). So tomorrw i ahve to fix all of the other dumbass's **** on the other side (which... isnt as bad) Then i have to mak my way on to the hood and roof and other little area's. The I can start rollin some midnight blue rustoleom on that bitch!!

Mach1 grill? lolz.... He was talkin about the Mach1 Shaker hood scoop. The hood scoop will be virtually the same only the scoop will be attached to the hood instead of the carb.

Here are some pics of yesterdays work. This is how I went about filling that antenna hole...

First just kinda scratch up the area with a sander, find any piece of little metal that is like a strip and you can get down in the hole. (I chose aluminum trimming my dad had left over from a carpet job). drill a hole thru the center and make the hole big enough for a screw or pick screwdriver to be able to mov around cause it will have to go in as a angle. Thats how you get the metal in the hole and hole it there. Since i have no access to a welder, i used JB weld. (liquid weld). Its just as strong as a normal weld, and you can also use it on plastic's.

But to hold that little piece of metal up on the other side of the hole inside the fender I left the crewdriver in there and used vi-scripts to hold it up and in place, Add you liquid weld, let it dry.... (A good 4-6 hours depending on how cold it is), sand it down, add filler... sand it down and wala! Lol. That's for people how dont have a welder and wont to patch little hole's.

Pics to follow...

The hole is about the size of a nickle....

I put primer over it all today to keep the rust from growing. Anyway, I got the truck 60% ready for paint. I think I should fly right thru the driver side, and roof. And other little things. I got the full pass. side done and primed, along with the hood. tomorrow, if I can complete all bodywork it will be primed. Then I have to wait for more money to paint it. I am trying to sell the rims to see if I can make the extra cash to get it done.

I spent all day today replacing the damn bearing that went in my rear end. I was driving around and all the sudden it fell like my brakes were on... so i pulled over looked around and I didnt see nothin... so i drove home and i see oil leaking from my driver side drum brake, I take the wheel and drum off and its coming from the casing, I take the axle out and i see chunks of metal and bearings fall out. I am waiting for my bearing to come in so i can have it pressed on the axle and put the truck together so i can get to work tomorrow.

I start laying down paint on thursday. Today is all rainy so i am just gonna work on putting the rear axle together cause yesterdaty my 3.73's came in and I put the 3rd member back on the axle and I need to have the bearings pressed onto the axles and then i can put it back together. I need my truck! Driving my dads isunlicensed, uninsured, and has expired tags. I have been driving it around for all of last week. It would be pretty ****ed up to get pulled over .

And on saturday im racing it at PIR.My buddy from work is going with me in his escort. I'll have his ass take some video.

And this week i'm ordering headers as well. And then getting some cherry bombs to bolt up to em :)

They do make the header flanges on them. But its not gonna work. Damn crossmember is there. I'll just have to see where the headers drop down at. Anyway, I'll be looking at around a couple hundred bucks for exhaust. Thats gonna have to wait, I'll save some cash from next paycheck and then get it done on the next.

But anyway i got my truck back together yesterday and for some reason, my truck felt like it had some aggression to let out lol. I dont know if its from me drivin that 6cyl F150 or what? I forgot how much more power and torque my truck had then that 6cyl lmao.

Anyway, right now I am going to sand down the truck once more do get rid of any bumps and then roll some paint on. (Navy Blue paint btw...)
