to make a long story short my dad works with this kid who has a 350 in his s10 and he was sayin how he took a 03 cobra the other day on the interstate. I kinda played along and agreed with everything he said. anyway i was in the 03 cobra with my buddy from work. we seen the kid up in front of us and caught up to him. we slowed right beside him. we let the truck take off about 2 lengths and let me tell you oh my god my buddy punched it in third and we was out.  to make the story funny i had my buddy pick me up from my dads garage today and u should have seen the kids face. hahahahaha. my buddy looked at him and said nice truck and we drove off.

Doesn't sound like he was even racing....guy here, I have no idea who he is, has a 350 that is bored out in a S10 and runs 7.50 all motor in the 1/8th at the local strip. I don't think the Cobra would beat him....much less own him.95LT137944.9677199074

Depends on what's been done to the motor. My dad had a 79 vette with a 350 and it was a friggin dog. And it was supposedly the 'hot' version for the year. Stock 350's range anywhere from what? 170hp up to near 400.

Yea but you have to figure that most of the later 70 vettes were so called "dogs,"  as were the vast majority of older muscle cars comparitively speaking.  A lot of muscle cars, although quick out of the shop, really weren't anything spectacular.  But the great thing about muscle cars was that with really minor tweaking - timing etc - you could get tons, and i do mean tons, or HP gains.  So with very little done to a 350 of yesteryear, you can go superquick.

the 350 engine came out of a 82 vette that he says is some kind of limited or special edition motor. the funny thing is we looked up his block number and couldnt find it anywhere. he just recently put in a pro street cam and got new rocker rollers. it is a sweet truck and has an awesom lope to it but it didnt fare to well that day on the highway.
