Convertible Trunk Sub 00

wolf39us -> Convertible Trunk Sub 00 (4/3/2008 8:41:01 AM)

I need to know what boxes will fit in a convertible 2000

from what I got from crutchfield the measurements are

(Area in trunk for mounting a subwoofer box: Height = 7" towards front, 12" at rear, Width (front to rear) = 26" maximum, Length (side to side) = 34" maximum between wheel wells (trunk opening is only 28")

crutchfield is saying only an 8" box will fit

there has got to be a way to get bigger subs than an 8"

I have a 95 gt convertible. I fit 2 10 inch kicker L5s in individual truck boxes. Keyword being truck boxes. They are way thinner. The only problem is that it takes up most of my trunk. I had no room for my amp so I had it mounted to my trunk lid. It looks really cool though!

I have 2 12" Power Acoustic's and 2 1000 watt amps in my 99 vert! still tons of room for other $hit

I'll have to measure mine, but in my 04 GT Vert, I've got 2 alpine amps, and 2 JL 10w3v2 subs in JL's powerwedge sealed box.  Fits in fine, with room for a spare lunch or two.

dont wanna steal the thread but would i be able to possibly fit an infinity basslink powered sub in the well between the seat and the trunk, where the factory subs are???

CHIC -> RE: Convertible Trunk Sub 00 (4/10/2008 9:33:57 AM)

I have an '00 vert with 2 10" infinities, a 1400watt alpine amp, and a capacitor in the trunk with still more room to go.  I need to go out and measure it for you, but I had the box custom built to fit inside underneath the overhang.  The front and sides are still available for other crap.  The subs are bottom firing and the amp is mounted to the front of the box.  The only issue I have with this set up is that it sits on the back of the spare tire and I need to take the amp off the box in order to get the box out for access to the tire.  But....thats what AAA is for!  i will measure and get back to you.

Either way, you should get a custom box made for it.  it will sound better and fit better.  i think i paid about 80 for mine.  did all the other work myself.

I've got two alpine amps on an amp board and the JL PowerWedge box with 2 10w3v2 subs in it.  Still have room for my lunch ... I guess it's about 5 or 6 inches from the trunk latch and there's about 6" of space on either side of the sub box.

hot wheels -> RE: Convertible Trunk Sub 00 (5/4/2008 1:01:18 PM)

2 8" L7's, 1 battery, 2 amps, 1 cap.

joeybutts -> RE: Convertible Trunk Sub 00 (5/5/2008 2:58:07 AM)

$30 plus shipping.  Where are you located?

tkechris -> RE: Convertible Trunk Sub 00 (5/5/2008 3:44:38 AM)

I have 2 12" MTX subs in a 2 cu.ft. Q-Logic Box witha  JBL 1200.1 amp and a 1 farad lightning audio cap..  Its a tight fit to get it into the trunk, but once its in theres room to spare.  My box is one piece, but it might be easier if you buy 2 boxes so that ur subs have plenty of room.  if you do have small boxes, and their not ported, add a lb. of polyfill (used for pillows, $2 at walmart).  the polyfilm will make the box "trick" your sub into thinking its in a bigger box.

uhm ok...but is this box made to fit a vert?...I know the vert measurements are different

Kmoran81 -> RE: Convertible Trunk Sub 00 (5/5/2008 4:12:44 PM)

I bought a box a circuit city that holds 2 12's that fit in my trunk. You have to take off the weatherstripping to get it in there but it will fit.

joeybutts -> RE: Convertible Trunk Sub 00 (5/6/2008 4:48:51 AM)

Fits perfectly in a vert.  That's what my car is.
