Hey everyone, I have a black 06 mustang with 2x 10 inch bright red stripes with 2 in seperation. I am wondering whether or not to upgrade the exhaust to dual. Right now, obviously, it is just a single exhaust. If I change to dual would it be easier to have a shop cut out a spot for the second pipe on my read bumper or should I buy a GT takeoff bumper. I also would like to know the best sounding exhausts for a v6 out there. If anyone has any pictures or websites to help me that would be great. Thanks.
I used the Pypes template to cut my bumper - very easy to do, used a box cutter with a sharp blade and a wine bottle wrapped with sand paper to smooth the cut. I have the GT take off mufflers, but the GTA that comes with the FRPP kit sounds really good, a little deeper.
Thanks for the reply JimC. I was also wondering what all did u have to buy in order to convert your single exhaust into dual. And how much did it cost u to do all of this?
I bought the FRPP "X" pipe from someone on another forum - only paid $50 shipped. You have to either buy or have fabbed up an X or H pipe to replace the Y pipe you cut out after the cats.
Then bought the rest of the system off eBay, both mid pipes and mufflers off a GT500 with only 50 miles on them for $86. For some reason no one was really bidding on the system so I picked it up fairly cheaply. Every once in awhile a system comes up again and it is possible to pick up for less than $100.
You also have to buy 2 hangers for the driver side muffler, around $30 each at the Pypes or V6mustangstuff web sites.

I have the Ford Racing V6 dual exhaust kit. Comes with the X pipe, mid pipes, GTA mufflers, hangers, and cutout inserts. It was less than $600. I installed it, took a few hours. It sounds great.
