ok im ready to buy the 4.10s anf t lok. im geting them from ford racing to keep it all ford. but want the whole low down. is it just the gears and t-lok and thats it. or is their other things involved. ive heard that we also need to buy the gear fluid. so if anyone can tell me evrything that is need it would be appreciated. and im gona call to get new tunes.
the fluid dont really matter its all pretty much just 90w gear oil but you need the friction modifyer to use with your tlok. also on the gears make sure they are not motive gears i hear the things whine like there is no tommorow

i would just get the shop that will be doing the install to supply the necessary fluids and/or bearings. i guess you can get your own bearings online but don't think you'll be saving much unless your shop tries to bamboozle you. good luck.
thanks for the info. i had forgot about the modifier. im trying to find out all i need so i can have them and not go to the shop and than have to order more stuff and wait more time to install.

Trust me do some searching on here and plenty of people have had problems with the motive gears...I will try to dig up some threads but trust me on this one
hey believe me i know. im definetly getting them. i just wanted to get the info neccessary needed to have a good install. tax money is bringing me gears, t-lok, and black cobra wheels.

i know this thread is semi old but i didnt wanna start a new one.... im getting gears and tlok on friday and my tuner is on its way int the mail. my question is should i install the tune as soon as i get it or do i have to break the gears in first in order to install the tune???
I would install the tune when the gears are put in if you have a tune that compensates for the new gears...but I have heard others say that you shouldn't go all out on the new gears for a little while
My installer only made me pay for the gears and install kit. They provided the necessary parts for the adjustments made (shims.. fluids)..
Can you tell me what the price to install for your car was?
