i need a good amp for 2 kicker 15 inch l7s 2000 rms 4000 max I'm thinking about earthquake's 5000 model it has 3000 watt rms witch is a little over the rms of the speakers combined.

You can use any amp as long as you set the gain correctly. setting the gain for kicker is a little hard. I have a cvx and I can turn the gain all the way up and over power it, but it doesn't distort. just keep the settings low with that amp.

Are those 2ohm dvc or 4 ohm? cause it makes a big difference in power. id go with hifonics, they have good affordable stuff

i'd do like a Memphis 1500 watt amp. or, just FYI, Soundstream makes really good Mono Block sub amps. i had 2 12" L7s powered by a PCA2000D for a while

That's 'cause you're doing it wrong

kickers will distort just like any other speaker will when the signal goes bad.  Kickers just need a little more power then most subs.

I would think so but I couldn't find the distortion point on mine. I turned it up to the highest gain and db level and and the sub sounded like it still wanted more. then again, maybe the zx750.1 cant max out the sub.

I would define both the amps and subs as inefficient......  the subs are current hungry  which makes their already current hungry amps even worse.  You can get more/better.......

What does Kicker use some type of evil witchcraft that can magicly change the signal sent to them and not distort?   Noob!

As far as an amp for your L7's I would stear clear of Earthquake equipment, that amp will not do its rated power and is not very reliable. One amp i would recomend for around that price would be the AudioQue AQ2200. this amp will produce more power than its rated at, and is a very reliable amp that has some great reviews. As long as you have the dual 4 ohm coils it will work. What i like about this amp the most is it comes from a no BS, no crome, no carbon fiber company and is owned by Digital Designs, one of the top manufactures for excellent spl equipment.

^^^^ very good advice but earthquakes's old amps are no where near junk or overrated i owned a shredder back in 03 and it was a monster of an amp in a small package. New stuff looks like audioblah and soo on so buy at ur risk. Also, audioque is a great company basiclly i poor mans DD but (they will do carbon, chrome, wood if wanted) atleast thats what Nick is telling me.

Ture EQ used to make a damn fine amps but there quality has been going down hill for a while now. I did hear rumor of AQ offering the CF dustcap witch is cool by me (i'll admit i always did like the cf cap from DD keep it on the hush hush) but Aq is most definatly a fine company. My next amp is going to be the 2200 and i think i'll do the Hdc3 12 as well. the quality for the price is unbeliveable!

lol. yea. the 2 12" L7s i had in teh camaro would make the rear window flex close to 2 inches, if not 2 inches. i made a custom box(sealed) that fit them in there nicely(with right cubic feet) and fired em up at window too though.

Diamond D3s are pretty hard hitting. can pick up a dual 12" setup in a ported box at EW where i am for 550-650, depending on the year model. and they usually give you a discount on the memphis 1100watt amp when you buy then together. like 1000 before taxes/installation. of corse, much cheaper online.
