so i was driving around yesterday with my radio a quarter way up and i hear a lil bit rattling and it didnt sound like it was comming from my car, so i opend my trunk and it was comming from my sub, I pulledthe sub out of the box andtested the voice coils and they were 1.47 ohm per voice coil and when you push the cone up and down it is smooth with no noise.I called jl and they want $600 to fix it, and i can buy new ones for $600, and from what ihear no one can get jl parts but jl, what does this sound like to you guys?

Play it free air outside the box and make sure you can see everything, you should still be able to hear it if it's a problem within the vc or motor structure.

you can get JL stuff online for cheaper then straight through JL, but 99% of the time, the serial number will be scratched off = no warranty....and as for testing the subs outside the box, thats not good for the sub...at all.
the only authorized online JL dealer that can give a warrenty is crutchfield. Of course you can get it cheaper from other places but you are on your own if it does blow.
