Agreed.
We went to 18x9 dds and 255/45R18s, no need for any changes of any kind.
AS LONG as you get wheels that fit correctly nothing needs changed.

Sally, 245/45R18s are not quite as tall as 215/65R16...

ok there is a lot of misinfomation floating in this thread the wheels in question are the OEM 18" Bullit wheels. the fan blades fit fine more aftermarket are fine just the Oem 18" bullit wheels Can have fitment issues on the v6 stang its caused my the v6 caliper being to close to the hub so the wheels may rub on the caliper the remedy for this is to use the gt caliper brackets and rotors. not everyone will have this issue, but it is somthing to look into if your going to get the oem 18" wheels

So the problem is with OEM 18" wheels? I had Les Schwab do my AMP 18s and there hasn't been an issue.
Original poster, I'd maybe call another dealership to see what you hear from them. Also, call a national chain tire store and see what they say about changing from 16 to 18.

Larger rims does not mean larger rolling diameter.
Its the revs per mile.
The 16" stock tire has the same
revs/mile as the stock 17"
and the stock 18" tire. [;)]

215/65R16   747 revs/mile
235/55ZR17   742 revs/mile
235/50R18   740 revs/mile
Some people use this size on 18x8.5" rims with no speedo change
255/45-18   746 revs/mile

Now go changing tire sizes and yes, you need a tuner to change the revs/mile
to match the new tires.

Its these rims specifically on a V6 with V6 caliper brackets and V6 rotors.
18x8.5" 50mm offset OEM flangeless chrome/polished Bullitts.

I may have had the wrong previous tire size.  But my current tires are taller and wider.

What do you mean? You do need to change to GT rotors and calipers?  I've seen posts by people that have done the swap without changing out anything.

So I wonder why you won't have a problem with OEM 18" fanblades but do have a problem with OEM 18" bullitts?

because the fan blade spokes are not as close to the caliper as the Bullit wheels are you might not have rubbing issues but it is a possbility

Yes, thats what I mean. A V6 with V6 brakes and OEM 16x7 rims
and changing them to 18x8.5 50mm offset Polished OEM Bullitts.
Will the spokes clear the V6 caliper brackets? Yes or no?

This question applies to the above pictured 18" OEM rims.
I am not interested in who "got 18" aftermarket rims and
they fit just fine". Aftermarket rims do not apply here. [;)]

I Just got a set of 18" Polished Bullitts with Tires (Used) from a member on here. The above link to the site he got them from are made for our V6 with the correct offset so you do not need to change the brakes. My 05 came with 16s $595 for 4 rims not a bad price I got 4 with good rubber Toyo 255/45R 18 for $400 Thanks droptop cant wait to clean them up and put them on I just drove 60 miles tonight and picked them up from him some times good things do happen to me.LOL I so happy tonight

Just thought I'd reiterate that I went from stock v6 16" rims to my 18" American Racing Rogue's. No problems in 2 months.

Anyone had any trouble going from stock 16's to Shelby Torque Thrusts 18x9 wheels? I'm seriously considering on purchasing them but now I'm not sure if I will have rubbing issues

When we put them on with just the v6 calipers and rotors they rubbed on the front so i had spacers for awhile then i bought gt take offs both worked fine

They probably didnt come with the TPMS sensors if they are aftermarket
rims unless you specifically ordered them that way. The tire shops can get
replacement mounting bands for the new rims and take the sensors
out of your old OEM rims and install them on your new aftermarket rims. [;)]

OK, I just rotated my 17" OEM Bullitts and took the opportunity
to install an OEM 16" rim, and a 18" OEM Bullitt to get pics
of V6 brake caliper bracket clearances. Here are some pics.
The 18" Bullitts are darn close to the bracket. There is no
interference with the 18x8.5 OEM Bullitt rim installed and rotated,
but its a little too close for me. I will be upgrading to the GT brackets
and rotors for the fronts. [;)]

I'm putting on some 18X8.5 wheels & mounting 255/45/ZR18 rubber and have no probs with this setup. The wheels I'm installing have a 35 mm offset or 6 1/8 inch backspacing, and this setup has no problems with rubbing anything. I think if you do have issues it's probably related to the offset of a specific wheel/tire combo. Below's the wheel I'm installing. As far as brake clearance on the V6 with a wheel like mine, you can run a train throught the space. These specific wheels are designed for BIG brakes setups if the owner wants to go that way. Jack

From my point of view the only PITA is the TPMS sensors! Cost a fortune to get them switched over. It is a real crock that the vendors are offering free mounting and balacing but they don't have your sensors so what good it is it?  Other than that the 18X9 rims will fit nicely.  See below.

Its not the outer diameter that hits with OEM 18x8
Bullitts on a V6 with V6 front brake caliper BRACKETS,
its the spoke to brake caliper BRACKETclearance,
not the caliper to inner rim diameter clearance.
Aftermarket rims dont apply to my question. [8|]
