So, I am trying to find a good dual exhaust kit for my 6. After looking at Borla's site I see they offer a dual system for the V6 that is supposed to crank an extra 18hp. Does anyone out there have this kit??? They advertise it being $1200 and there is no way I want to drop that type of money if it doesn't meet expectations.??? please

not to steer you away from the borla, but i have a video of my magnaflows, if you want to hear them...the vid is about 6 mins.... i think they are rated for a 12 to 15 hp gain but as will alot of this stuff i usually knock 2-3 hp from the numbers cause they are gonna tell you anything to sell you something..... i used a y pipe and while my info in the video may be a little off, by some, this is what i was told by three reliable sources.... my whole kit with install was less than 1000....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW-iFzCYzIY

hope this helps aid you in your decision......

Watched the vid, not too bad at all. Ok, so I now have thrown Magna into the running of exhaust system. But judging from a comment on the youtube vid someone made comment towards the idea that Borla was the loudest. I think that is what I am looking for...I want people to know when I'm coming lol.

Have you considered the frpp duels? Also take a look at the exhaust sticky thread (in the drivetrain performance section).  Borla makes good products, but I can't imagine spending that kinda money on exhaust.

Well the price for the frpp duals is a lot more resonable...but, it's a Ford product so I'm curious as to if their setup is just the same as a stock GT?? More than likely, plus they don't say anything about power gain or anything. But thank you for the input....$1200 is a lot though.

You can buy the Borla Stinger mufflers for $400 bucks from buyfordracing.com then you should get a mid pipe and over-axel pipes of your choice.  I got the take-off's from the GT's and will get the Stingers soon.

GT uses an H-Pipe and FRPP uses X-pipe. They also have different mufflers(and probally some other differences). This topic has been covered alot so do a couple of searches and you should find all the info you need. Good luck with your choice. Also the gains on exhaust will be the about the same (maybe 1 or 2 hp difference).

Isn't it? I've always been a sucker for shinny things. And after reading why Borla cost so much, I have been convinced that it very well may be worth the extra pennies lol

Just a note, (maybe southernmustangparts can confirm this) the Borla mufflers aren't actually as shiny as they appear.

I've got Borla Stingers, which are shown in pictures as being completely polished stainless steel, and while the entire muffler is indeed stainless, it isn't polished.  Only the tips are.  So the tips are very pretty, yes, but the rest of the muffler is just as dull as anything else.

As for the big HP increase, as far as I know, that's all marketing nonsense.

An aftermarket muffler on the V6, whether it's single or dual, has been recorded (in any dyno that I've seen) as gaining only 4-6 horsepower.

On a GT, if you put an off-road pipe (no cats) you can gain 15-18-ish horsepower--due to exhaust "scavenging," which you can look up if you want more info, but this is only in a GT.  The V6 engine doesn't operate the same way and so exhaust will never give the same gains to a V6 as it does to a V8.

And this is only with the off-road pipe, mind you.  Even on a GT, upgrading only the mufflers will never give you a 15-18 hp increase if you keep the cats on.

Just as well, the Borla's look and sound sweet.  They're expensive, but apparently very good quality, so maybe you get what you pay for.  And don't feel too bad.  I dumped about $1600 on my dual Borla Stingers and JBA H-pipe kit, so it could always be worse.

If you don't mind parting with the cash, Borla's are definitely a cool way to go.

Here's a vid (not my car) on YouTube of how the Stingers and JBA H pipe sound:

Oh dear god...after seeing that vid and hearing the Borlas on a V6...nothing will be able to change my mind...I've heard other systems and that just decimated them all

LOL, that's what I figured when I heard it.  And you know how videos of exhaust always kind of suck, so it's got to sound even better in person.

It's an expensive set-up, but I convinced myself it was okay because it sounds pretty great and it's a "one-time" purchase.

Yikes.

^^^

By the way Nocturnal, just to clarify so you don't buy the wrong set-up, the videos are not showing the V6 system advertised on Borla's website, and they're not the mufflers in the picture that southernmustangparts showed.

The video shows the Borla Stingers (the "aggressive" type).

The Stinger mufflers are part #11750.

The V6 mufflers southernmutangparts showed in those pictures are the non-aggressive muffler type, and won't sound the same as the ones in those videos I posted.

If you want to buy direct from Borla, you can check with them and see if they'll switch the non-aggressive V6 mufflers with the Stinger version, or just order the Stingers by themselves and order an X or H pipe somewhere else, or have a local shop fab the X/H and mid-pipes for you.

Also, the Borla Stingers are the exact same exhaust as the FRPP Stingers, just with the different brand name stamped on the tips, and the FRPP's are usually a bit cheaper, so if you don't mind having "FRPP Racing" stamped on the tips instead of "Borla," you might be able to save yourself $50-100 on the set-up.

If you go with the FRPP Stingers and can get a local shop to fab the H and mid-pipes, you might actually be able to get the set-up for cheaper than $1200.

If the Borla Stingers sound that good, and it's the same company that makes the FRPP duals, would it make sense to purchase the FRPP (that is, if one likes the sound of the Stingers in the video link)?

Man, I live in BFE, Alabama lol....if I still lived in Cali I would look into it...but I don't trust these beat-up pickup drivers with my baby lol. Although there is a place in Birmingham being listed on Borla's site...maybe they could hook me up for less
