I recently (2 months ago) bought a used 2007 ford mustang. I did not think to check at the time, but the wheels are aftermarket and the wrench in the trunk with the spare no longer works. This would not normally be a problem but one lug nut one each wheel is a spline locking type, and of course there is no matching key any where in the car.
Should I be concerned about the bottom straight part on the old ones not being on the new ones?
Second question The previous owner went with a 265 35 zr20 (front) and a 255 35 zr20 (rear). Which seems kind of weird to me. Any idea why he/she picked this set up? I will be shopping for new ones soon, any suggestions on what I should get? I would prefer non directional.
most tire store have a variety of keys and some have a device that like an easy out but its female

Probably didn't know what they were getting if putting on wider fronts. Doesn't make sense. As far as the key issue, any reputable tire shop can help you out. What brand wheels do you have on?
Sounds like what happened is that the tires got rotated to the front from the rear. AS far as the lugs any shop that carries aftermarket whels should be able to help you out with getting them off and the right set of lugs to go back on.

Worst come to worst, you can drill the lugnut and stud out with a drill, but that is no fun for sure haha. Like said, its probably bigger in the front becuase they got rotated that way.
