Does the frd04-aux remove the ability to use the 6 disc changer for the shaker 500 system. I have an 05 mustang with the shaker 500 and want the ability to hook up my xm through the aux input without losing the 6 disc changer . Thank you for any help

get an FM transmitter for 20 bucks form Best Buy. then set your radio to a station with no reception and set the transmitter at the same station and plug the transmitter into your headphone outlet of the ipod. enjoy the mp3 music in your car.

All it does is trick the system into thinking you have a RSES (dvd), works perfectly, just put mine in last night. and remember FM Modulation is the enemy...

I am thinking about doing this to my 05. Could you take a pic and show me how you have it installed. I was hoping to use this with my new cell phone that plays mp3s. Maybe I can even turn the speakers in to a hands free cell?
Anyone have install instructions, time it took, etc? One of the local shops I talked to about it wants $199 for part+labour which sounds ridiculously high for what I would guess is 15-20 minutes of work.
From reading (briefly) through the instruction manual of the Peripheral product, it seems you must have MP3 printed (and an aux button) on your system, and as long as it's a Ford you're ok. You cannot have satellite radio installed, however.
Hope this helps, this seems like my kind of solution!
Hi, Noob here. There is a jack in the center console for iPods and other mp3 players. Press the aux button and the radio will play whatever is plugged into that jac. You must press the aux button until " Line In" shows up. (For it is also used for Sat Radio too.) You cannot control the iPod or mp3 players however. Refer to page 30 in your Owner's Guide for a more detailed instructions. Hope this helps.

One of the little upgrades in '07s from the 2 previous years is that they come stock with the mp3 player aux input built in. '05 and '06 mustangs didn't have that, just the utterly useless aux button on the dash.
To anyone interested in the Peripheral Electronics Auxilliary device (also known as the iSimple)...
Don't Get it!!!
It's supposed to integrate your iPod directly into your stereo... and they used to advertise it as Mustang '05-'07 compatible... but it messes up your car's electrical system pretty severely (it killed my car in traffic 4 times) and makes all of your dash lights go cuckoo pretty quickly. While it worked it was a pretty awesome system... the sound was perfect (multiple times better than FM modulators)... but now I'm back to square one with no iPod interface at all. What sucks even more is that the company who manufactured it (Peripheral under the name AAMP of America) didn't issue a recall or anything, even with all of the complaints I've seen online. They simply removed the compatibility for the Mustang from boxes and their website. When I emailed them they told me to return it to Best Buy, and when I told them Best Buy only accepts returns within 30 days they finally told me to send it back to the company...
So anyways, stay away from the Peripheral products, they've acknowledged the problem (although somewhat secretly) and are apparently working on an updated version that works with the 'Stang.
I'm looking for a connector for a Shaker 500 in an 06. BrandMotion advertises a connector for iPod and Sirius here on mustangforums. Any word on how well it works or any problems?
