Remove Steeda, Roush, and Shelby.  Steeda and Shelby just repackage other peoples stuff so it will cost more for nothing extra.  Roush is a Roots blower and is very ineffiecient and not sized properly.  The blower might make 500 crank hp but that is all it will have in it.  The rest of those look good.

To start just decide whether you want centrifugal, belt driven turbo - as rpms rise so does boost, or twin screw which is like driving  a big block.  Lots of power everywhere, from idle to redline.

Once you have that we can help you narrow it down.

Yeah As I Read On I Seem To Be Heading For The Twin Screw Whipple HO System!! This Is The One That Seems To Offer What We Want And Then We Should Be Able To Increase If Need Be With Lower End Mods. This Should Be Something That We Can Countinuously Build Around And Never Run Out Of Power!!! I Am Also Comparing The Procharger System And The Saleen System!! The Saleen Might Have A Price Edge My Bro's Brother In-Law Works For Them!! But I Haven't Researched Much On Them Yet!! Its Almost Confusing With All The Dependabilty & HP Gains That They Claim With No Lag!! Well We Want A System With Zero Lag Just Power From The Start That Will Run All The Way Through The Power Band!! We Are Also Going To Have To Get The Proper Clutch & Gearing Lined Up, The List Goes On!!!!
Again Thank You

If your from the Detroit area Brenspeed is fairly close and offers turbo's, centri's, and Saleen.  A great shop that works almost entirely on s-197 platforms.  Nothing beats having someone close that can answer questions and do installs.

Good Luck with the build. I'm deployed in Baghdad right now trying to work with my wife on having our '07 ROUSH get pumped up modifications. It's not easy from this distance, so I hope the best for you. Tell your son "Semper Fi"

Congrats 1st on your son and 2nd on your project with him and 3rd on your new mustang. I commend you and your son for your sacrifices. A lot of us on here are building and asking these questions. dont rush it, research it. If your bringing the car to the 450 plus rear wheel HP mark you would be money ahead to fortify your engine, possibly a stroker kit and forged internals. once you have your platform your are starting off right. and you do not have to worry about the rotating assy. at 450 rear wheel HP are stock mustangs begin to show thier production limits. yeah some are running close to 500 but most would love to know they had there block bullet proof. you will need to update clutch, driveshaft, gears possibly axles , suspension tires wheels, gauges, pods roll bars plus the big ? of a power Adder.   will he ever want to run nitros ? how big of a shot?
Do you  have a performance shop in mind and a tuner shop with a dyno?
I guess  it seems overwhelming at first but talk with him and find out his goals for the car. 1/4 mile strip, track or street racing?  these all change the way the car is setup.

were proud of him and you to for helping him. Keep up the good work and good luck with your progress. I am sure we are all pulling for him
And   I would like to thank all you vets and service(men ) for your sacrifices

Jeff, seeing you are in the Metro Detroit Area here is a great guy to help you get started.  Mustangs are his speciality and he is very well known and a good person to boot.  He also has a Dyno Day coming up on April 19th if you want to get some baseline numbers for your son.

if you're in detroit, check out brenspeed. they are one of the most respected mustang shops in the country.

first thing is going to be to figure out which blower you want. from what you've said, i would say stick with a twin screw. there's Whipple, Kenne Bell, and Saleen. talk to your son and see if the 500hp is going to be where he stays or if he wants the option to build his block later on and add more boost. the Saleen charger will get you the 450rwhp you want fairly easily and if you get it installed by a certified Saleen dealer, they'll warrant the work, which is a huge plus when you're talking about forced induction. Kenne Bell and Whipple have the ability to make more power than the saleen, but you have to spend another huge chunk of change to forge your internals. if it was me and i was making a daily driver, i'd probably go Saleen and get the warranty.

for suspension you're going to want an overhaul for "road racing handling". lowering springs, shocks, struts, lca's, uca, panhard bar and brace, and a bunch of other stuff i can't even begin to list. i would recommend pm'ing Sam Strano, F1 Fan, or any of our other resident suspension experts. Sam has his own shop and has 4 SCCA championships with his most recent being in a S197, so he knows his stuff.

also, you're going to want a new driveshaft, clutch, shifter, wheels & tires, brakes, exhaust, and any appearance modifications he wants. i would start making a list of all of the modifications he wants to do starting with the most important to him and go mod by mod and figure out which parts you want. also make sure to keep in mind everything he has chosen when picking another part. we're all here to help and there is a wealth of information on the site you can use the search to find.

tell your son thank you from all of us.

Yeah I Started A List It Started Out As A Sheet Of Paper Now It Is A Folder Full, Plus Internet Sites And Forums, But I Have Recieved Alot Of Great Info From This Site. It Has Led Me In The Proper Direction, I Know He Wants To Do Forced Induction Before Anything Else!! So Whatever He Does It Has To Be Safe To Run On A Stock Motor And Be Able To Be Expanded When He Gets The Lower End Built!! The Suspension Upgrades Will Be Done About The Same Time He Gets Done With His Deployment March '09!! Then He Can Work On The Appearance Of His Car!! Brenspeed Is On Our List Of Performance Shops To Checkout!!
My Bro's Brother-In-Law Works For Saleen So I Am Seeing What He Can Do For The Extended Family! He Is Checking To See What They Can Do.
Again Thank You For Your Info And Support It Is Seriously Being Thought Out And Being Put To Good Use! We Want To End Up With A 1 Of A Kind Ride!

i'm not really sure what the saleen is capable of making on a built motor, you might want to check that out because it would suck to get it and then not be able to up the power if that's what he plans on doing.

Yeah Thats Why I Have My Bro's Brother-In-Law Checking Out How Far I Can Go With The Saleen!! And Who He Would Recomend On The Install!!! We Still Have So Much Research To Do!! We Don't Want To Waste 1 Cent When It Comes To Performance!! We Also Want Safe So There Is Safety Research We Have To Do To Ensure Our Safety And Those On The Road Or Track With Us!! So The List Is Growing, Its Just The Order That We Want To Go In That Matters, I Don't Want To Install Something Then Have To Take It Off And Reinstall Or Have To Try To Sell Because It Isn't Needed Anymore!! So 1st I Guess We Will Start With The Supercharger, CAI, Cat Back Exhaust, And Specific Tune For Power Adders. Then We Will Go With Tires, Brakes & The Suspension Upgrades To Keep It Planted!! Once The Supercharger Is Put On The Car Will Be Driven About A 1,000 Miles Before The Other Upgades Are Made, There Will Be No Track Time Or Anything Like That Put On It. It Will Be In Storage In A Controlled Enviroment!!!
Thank You This Site Is Making Our Research Easy!!!

"So 1st I Guess We Will Start With The Supercharger, CAI, Cat Back Exhaust, And Specific Tune For Power Adders."

most s/c's come with their own CAI and other ones usually don't fit very well, so you should be able to scratch that off the list, it'll come with your s/c kit. unless you get teh saleen, then you should get a WMS CAI just because it looks so bad ass!

also noticed cat-back exhaust... on these cars, there's basically three exhaust components you change. axle-backs (mufflers), mid-pipe, and headers. an axle-back system changes the mufflers, tips, etc. the only thing a cat back system adds, is extra tubing from the mid-pipe to the mufflers, which honestly isn't necessary, it's just something extra for you to waste money on. only reason i would see is if you plan to go with a mid-muffler setup that would move the mufflers in front of the axle, but the only one i know of is pypes, so there isn't much of a selection if you go that route. i'll tell you right now: Corsa or MAC Boomtubes for the axle-backs

The stock exhaust isnt that restrictive.  You can pick up some hp with long tubes (25rwhp), honestly for the money I would hold off.

Saleen makes a good blowers and if the price is right you cant go wrong, but the saleen starts loosing efficiency at 15psi.  It is a function of the intake volume.  Now this would be good for around 520rwhp but if you want more you cant.

From what it sounds like you are trying to build a super high performance car. My suggestion is pick your end HP goal and work backwards.

My plan is to get a forged - stroked shortblock with stock heads and valvetrain (298ci) and run 15psi on pump gas for the street.  Should be able to get 550rwhp easy and safe.  Then at the track I want to run a  100-200 shot of nitrous.  Hope to see the car in the low 10's high 9's and then drive home.  This is a very long term goal but everything I buy is supporting that goal.

In the end I am sure it will turn out great, just do your research and know what you are getting into.  Dont buy something just because it is cheaper because in the end, you wont be happy.

Check out ST motorsports too and look at their 3.4L Whipple kits.  Defineately the blower for the ulitmate mustang.  A couple of members here have one.  1 is make 620+rwhp with stock displacement and the other is looking for 700+rwhp on pump gas.

Our Goal Isn't Really A 1/4 Mile Car, I Am Sure It Will End Up Doing Some 1/4 Mile Track Time, Our Goal Is Pretty Much A Road Race Stick It To The Pavement With Awesome Suspension And Lots Of Power To Pull It Out Of The Corners. But This Is Our 4 Year Goal For The Car!! We Will Run The Snot Out Of The Stock Block With The S/C Running Within Stock Capabilities!! And From My Reseach With A Stroked Block With Forged Internals A Intercooled Saleen S/C Pushing 15 lbs Boost Should Put Me At The 600+RWHP On Pump Gas!!! On The Road Hopefully That Will Keep The Z06 Folks Inline!!! I Was Also Advised Not To Really Do Anything To The Exhaust To Get Much Performance Out Of The Car Unless We Go With An Off Road System!! But We Need To Maintain Street Legalness So We Will Go Stock For Now And See Where We Go From There!!!
Thanks For All The Input It Is Keeping Me Busy Researching This While My Son Is In Harms Way!! It Keeps My Mind Busy!!

Yeah As I Read On I Seem To Be Heading For The Twin Screw Whipple HO System!!

It is the best complete system available.  It comes with the dual fuel pump system from the gt500.  No other kit offers this for the same price.  The tune that whipple sends you will work fine unless your son wants to dyno tune the car.  I've been running the whipple tune for 7k miles now 5 days a week.

The best part about the whipple is it is plug and play and easily reversible should he want to sell the car or go in another direction.  Almost all the other superchargers have you modify something that isn't easily reversed.

I would just like to thank each and everyone one of you for all the input you have for my car.  It is going to be hard to do all the things i want to do to it with me over here in Iraq.  I greatly appreciate what you have done by answering all the questions me and my father have asked.  He has been keeping me up to date on this forum, and i have kinda made my mind up on what were going to do now we just have to find the right places for it to get done at.  Thank you all again.

if you're close enough, have Brenspeed do the saleen s/c install.
