MPG

T.J. King -> MPG (4/16/2005 8:23:41 AM)

I noticed on the thread "210hp" that the CAFE standards were mentioned along with a comment about the relatively low MPG of the new V6. CAFE allows for a MPG average for the entire car fleet from a company. The Stang V6 is only a part of the total fleet. I don't think 210 hp rateing had much to do with CAFE. The historic mix of V6 to V8 in the Mustang has been 60-70% 6cyl.

As far as MPG of the new V6, I"m very impressed. Before I give the MPG I've been getting I want to say this. The MPG feature in the fancy/schmancy IUG package has proven to be pretty accurate. I've checked a couple of times and it has been within a few tenths of my figures. The other point is that I do very little stop and go driving. I live 24 miles from the town where I conduct most of my business. It is a small town without many stop lights. The worse mileage I have gotten is 25.3. The best, yesterday, on a 126 mile round trip is 29.5.

What MPG are you folks getting?

BradC -> RE: MPG (4/16/2005 11:42:44 AM)

I don't have the IUP but I have an application on my Palm pilot that calculates the MPG. My average since I got the car has been 20.79. The best I've gotten was 27.9 and the worst was 17.0 (I must have been driving really crazy that week.)

cheysdaddy -> RE: MPG (4/18/2005 10:29:37 AM)

I drive almost strictly in town and get around 15-16

afixer -> RE: MPG (4/18/2005 9:43:02 PM)

just got back fron my trip to san jose put about 800 miles up back and around. 26.5 mpg average

Bruno -> RE: MPG (4/19/2005 7:10:02 AM)

I get 21-22 with a mix of highway and city. The auto seems to work really well in mixed driving, but I'm a bit disappointed with the highway mileage, I only get about 27

vb101 -> RE: MPG (4/19/2005 4:55:01 PM)

Maybe it's the way I drive but in mixed driving, ~40/60 city/highway, I'm getting a little over 26 mpg. I drive relatively conservatively most of the time but not always. My strictly highway driving is over 30 mpg. My best strictly highway mileage was about 33.5 mpg.

Much better mileage than what I expected.

T.J. King -> RE: MPG (4/19/2005 7:41:55 PM)

That is what I think, much better than expected.

Tres Wright -> RE: MPG (5/2/2005 2:21:44 PM)

I'll bring this thread back up... I couldn't figure my first tank because the dealership didn't reset the numbers when they filled it. I just finished my 2nd tank and got 25 mpg (about 30% city, 70% highway driving). The digital display showed 24.9, so it does seem to be pretty accurate as mentioned earlier. That's with maybe 10% use of the A/C, it's been pretty cool here. Oh, and 25% with the top down which probably doesn't help the mileage much [:)] But I was pleased, since the auto is rated 25 highway I was expecting to get more like 22-23 combined.

ponytx -> RE: MPG (5/2/2005 10:28:27 PM)

I get about 21-22 and I drive half city/half highway to and from work. I do drive her pretty hard though, I could probably do better if I would slow down.

Ditto to that at only 700 miles. So I expect it to still go up.
I do also have a K&N air filter installed, other than that my v6 is stock.

Bumping this old thread so no one cries *Search The Archives*

I am on the market for a v6 convertible and want to ask what you guys are getting MPG on your V6 ?

UMTerp2010 -> RE: MPG (6/25/2007 4:52:29 PM)

i average 20.5 right now doing combo city and highway. recently took a trip to ocean city, md and it was a 109 mile trip and i burned 4 gallons. so highway driving is really good.

acrokat -> RE: MPG (6/25/2007 4:57:37 PM)

I average between 20-22 in mixed driving.  The best I have seen is 29 on a trip from Michigan to Washington DC.

banka87 -> RE: MPG (6/26/2007 8:33:49 AM)

I took mine from Jersey to Georgia a couple months ago...32 MPG!!!

cvz_finezt -> RE: MPG (6/26/2007 9:41:37 AM)

i get about 31 to 34 on the highway, and about 20 to 22 in the city. but on long trips i get about 40 to the gallon. gotta love them Big RIGS[:D]. on my way to el paso one time i got almost 500 miles to the tank. this Freightliner was in front of me for the most of the time on I-10 west. i pulled in about 50ft back or so, and set the cruise to 70 and just enjoyed my music. God I Love traveling!![:)]

4Rowdy -> RE: MPG (6/26/2007 4:08:51 PM)

I average 24 in town with traffic lights every 2 blocks, 27 hwy, with the a/c on all the time becuase it is currently a dry 90-95 degrees here right now. We are at 4500' altitude, so I am sure that has something to do with the gas mileage difference everyone is reporting.
I had a 03 Expedition that I traded for this v6 stang, the Expy only got 13 in town and 15 hwy [:'(], so I am NOT complaining about my gas mileage!!! [:D][:D][:D]

VictoriaRR -> RE: MPG (6/26/2007 5:58:16 PM)

15.4 average, almost strictly in town. It used to get about 19 when I got it brand new, then 17 last year, and now, well, 15.4.

*shrugs*

Damon007 -> RE: MPG (7/4/2007 1:18:13 AM)

I am getting 19 around town with the a/c on. I will check the highway miles next week when I drive down to san jose.

Derek245 -> RE: MPG (7/4/2007 3:36:54 AM)

The best mileage I've got on an entire tank is 29.0, mostly on the freeway, but that tank even included a few full-throttle accelerations. The best for a trip was 32 on a country road with only a couple stop signs. In town I get about 17-20. I have the A/C on probably 90% of the time I drive but it doesnt seem to make a big difference.

hataap -> RE: MPG (7/4/2007 5:50:56 AM)

i do city/highway driving mixed and get between 20-23 mpg
