Ok, living in Nevada desert has its issues, we are definately behind the times andlive in the hillbilly era.
Sooo, when I went to the big city last week, I stopped to get gas because it was 15 cents cheaper than at home. ($3.49 here for the 89 octane low grade!) The gas pumps had that rubber accordian looking nozzle thing on them. (we don't have those at our local gas station!) Well, is there a "special" way to make those work? It took me almost 20 minutes (no kidding!) to put 1/2 tank of gas in my car. Every 50 cents or so, you could hear the gas in the fill tube, the sound you get when its almost full, and it would shut the pump off.[:@] I have used these type of pumps before on our other vehicles and din't have this problem. But is there a trick to it on the mustangs? And the car definately needed gas it was just shy of 1/2 tank, it sucked in $30 worth, at 50 cent intervals!
[:@][:@]I was so freakin pissed that I almost called the dealer and told them to come pump the gas.
I checked all the TSB' s on this matter, my car was made in 5/05 so it is after the gas tank redesign tsb.
Hubby said to carry a little one gallon jug, put the gas in the jug then pour it into the car! [8D]

Don't stick the nozzle in as far next time. If you try and force it in, the auto kick off will trigger which is why it took so long. Just put the tip of the nozzle and and let it rest inside the mouth of the gas tank.
I tried all different ways, even had someone else lend a hand and they had no luck. (A young guy in a business suit yapping about how his Jeep did the same thing, all I was thinking was put the gas in the car!)
Just barely put it in and full blast it at the 4 o clock position.
Look under the fender and see the 1" gas filler tube roller
coaster looking item. THATS the problem. Or your EVAP canister
is plugged.
When I use those pumps, I don't lock the lever in, I manually pump the gas s-l-o-w. Also I turn the gas pumphandle 45° to the left. I find if I pump it in too fast, it will shut off like you say, every 50¢.
Don't have a problem with the older style nozzles. When I go for the new air bag recall, I'll get on the dealership to look at it and do something. Thanks folks!
my car does that every once in a while. flip the nozzle upside down and it should pump fine. just pay close attention cause it will backlash if you overfill it.
