I just bought a bottle of the Turtle Wax - Ice Liquid Clay Bar. I must admit that besides the $13 price tag, it works pretty good and with much less effort than a regular clay bar.
I am sure that many peope out there are just like me that waste a lot of money trying out new cleaning products. I just think it would be nice to be able to get other people's thoughts on new products.
well ****...just realized that we have a detailing section on here...lol, i've been a member here for a few years now and never realized that...learn something new every day huh???
i'm not sure...all i know is that i did half my hood and stood back to compare the sides...(i had just done a liquid wax 4 days ago)...it was like night and day. the clayed side looked damn near brand new. it says something about a triple layer cleaning process or something...who knows, looked good though
Is this liquid clay bar supposed to pick up contaminants like a real clay bar? I don't see how it could. So why have the words "clay bar" in the name? Isn't it just a wax?

I'm sure it makes a good cleaner wax, but it doesn't compare to a real clay bar. The purpose of a clay bar isn't to make a car shinier, it it to remove the contaminants and particles stuck in the paint. After claying a car properly the surface of the paint should be smooth as glass with no roughness on the surface.
The proper way to do this is to first take the clay bar and make it into a a round pancake about 4-5 inches in diameter. Then, working on a clean surface take some spray detailer (such as mothers) and lightly mist the surface. I like to clay 1-2 sq. ft sections at a time. If you don't use enough detailer the clay bar will stick to the paint. Using too much is just a waste. You want to move the clay bar over the surface in a cross pattern first going across the car then going from front to back. Do this until the surface is smooth. Then wipe with a microfiber and move onto the next section. -Andrew

I've tried the liquid clay bar; attempted to get the hard water stains off my car. The $hit is exactly that..........$hit. Did absolutely nothing to the stains.

I've used the Turtlewax Liquid Claybar and it does a decent job for a surface with only minor blemishes and buildup. If you've let your finish go and it's in need of some serious cleaning, then I wouldn't use it. But if you maintain the finish then it's a very good, fast alternative.

So after you clay it are you supposed to wash it again? I was told to wash, clay, wash, wax. I think the 2nd wash is a little overkill........but if it has to be done...it has to be done.
Yes, it has to be washed after you clay in order to remove the clay residue and rinse the remaining contaminants that were lifted by the claying process away. You'll see why after you clay. You won't WANT to do anything else before you wash it again.

I clay my car twice a year, I tried the liquid last fall to see if was faster. I did the hood, then went back to the parts store to get a real clay bar. I wasn't impressed with the liquid. Once yo use a real clay bar, you'll understand. And yes, wash, clay wash, wax. It might take all day but the results are amazing.

They dont sell Clay Bars on the American Bases, and the only ones off the base are priced in Euro's, and plus import price gouge, so with the way the economy is back in the states I'll just have to wait another month and a half...
