exactly.  there are websites made soley for selling items.  *cough cough hint hint wink wink* ebay and others.  And like ebay they all charge to use it.  however when you join a forum you generally join it to learn and have a place to share the same interest with other people like yourself.

To be completely honest, I'm hesitant to buy anything from someone with less than 100 posts. I would SURELY not buy anything from anyone with less than 50 posts, especially less than 10 for that matter.  If you're a member of the forum, contribute to it.  The forum is here to be used by members to gain knowledge about their cars, and if those members happen to want to sell something, they have an area to do so.

A crook is a crook regardless of how many post he/she has.  We have had guys in here ripped off by people with more than 50-100 post.  It's not hard to sit back and contribute by only typing +1 or other little things that only build up your post count.  Like I stated before, if you want to sell something, post all your info so the buyer knows where to go and who to ask for if he gets screwed.

A PM I just sent to Jasper:

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and don't plan on sticking around too long.  This is because I no longer have a mustang, or much interest in them.  I bought an '89 GT last summer and blew the engine less than 2 months later.  In an attempt to get some money back, I kept the wheels (with new tires) to try to sell them.  The rest was pretty much junk and sent to scrap yard.

I understand the rules about not being able to sell items with less than 50 posts.  I agree with the rule and see good reason for it.  However, I have nothing to contribute to this site that would be of any value to other members.  I do not like ebay, and would prefer to not have to create an account.

The purpose of this messege is to ask permission to post the wheels and tires for sale.  In order to ensure no one will be ripped off, I will make pickup or delivery a condition of the sale.  This will allow the buyer to inspect everything before the purchase.  If this is not allowed, I will try to sell them on ebay.  If this is the route that I have to take, would it at least be possible to post a link to the auction?

Thank you for your time,

Brandon

S o Just how am I supposed to put pics in my ad then??  If there was an easy way to do it I would, but in my opinion letting people e-mail me for pics seems like a way to weed out the people who are going to offer you 1/2 of your asking price....Just my 2 cents

Here you go man, it is extremely easy to post pictures within your ad.

Today, I have been successful in proving to myself why I'm hesitant in buying from those with less than 100 posts.  ( http://www.mustangforums.com/m_4731211/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#4781676 )I was not scammed, but, the condition of the headlights I purchased from a member with, currently, only 69 posts, was not fully explained.  The picture did not show the problem, and, granted, the car was totalled, if there is anything at all wrong with the product, you would thing this would be told to the buyer.  I am not writing this in an attempt to 'bash' the seller of my new headlights, however I'm just trying to make a point within this thread.

The point is, someone who's attempting to scam forum members isn't going to hang around here and make 50+ posts.  This rule was put in affect to deter scammers, not fully prevent them.  Atleast, that's my interpretation for it.

As always, as I learned today, BUYER BEWARE!

Bump, here there has to be a way to set it so the forum doesnt allow people with <50 posts to create ads.

I don't know who they have on their staff, but I really hope they have someone that is atleast proficient in PHP, they could whip up a script that would restrict posting priveliges to those forums.  If I wasn't 4+ years out of practise and if I had access to the PHP scripts at this site (yeah right...) I'd throw one together for them, has to be someone out there with a decent understanding of what I'm talking about...

If my memory serves correct, it should only take about 5 lines of code...

Why would this rule help?? Just cause you have 50 post doesnt mean that you arent going to rip someone off.  Im sure noone is here to rip anyone off.  I am trying to sell my stock wheels and tires and was about to sell them but no my thread had to get erased.  I dont see the point in this rule at all.

there have been plenty of people that have gotten ripped off....and yes it will cut down on spammers who are looking to take money and run.  50 posts in a general tech section is not hard to get in 1 week.

ask questions, how do you learn without asking?  If you click on a thread "how do you like these wheels?"  give your input!

We have got to cut down on trolling here.. Because this site has a bunch of faithfull members that post multiple times daily (unlike other forums) the traffic here is heavy and scammers and trolls made mention. This rule is extremely appreciated and needed.
