all i can say is WOW everytime they show a mustang beating a 4 banger they bit** about how it wasnt fair and o if he did this diffrently then he would have won WOW people get a grip
So, whats the bottom line?? With identical drivers, would a STOCK 04 GT with a manual transmission beat a Stock 04 SRT4 with a manual??? Anything outside of that as far as mods go would be all speculation and driver ability. The only thing I can give to the SRT guys is their cars are cheap from the get go.....sticker at 22K for a loaded one I believe, and the big mods for that car are cheap too!!! Other than that, I have beat stock ones with my stock GT before the exhaust and gears from a dig and from a roll, and I have been beaten after the gears and exhaust by a modded up one from dig and roll. So, lets leave it at that.
Ok heres the scoop coming from someone who owns both an 04 Srt-4 and an 05 Gt 5 speed. The SRT stock is faster than the Mustang stock with a competent driver. My stone stock SRT went 13:70@103 at Byron Dragstrip with less than a 1000 miles on it. My Mustang with around 200 miles on it went 14:20@99 at the same track. I know the Mustang has more in it and it should go high 13's itself, but the arguement is about an 04 GT stock which I believe is a TAD bit slower than a stock 05? The thing about the SRT is if you dont leave the line just right, you wont make a good run. Im talking about the difference between running a 13:70 to running a 14:20 in the SRT could be a matter of leaving the line 100 rpm different, slightly bogging, or spinning! I have not watched the video yet, but if you guys say he bogged the SRT at the line than no matter what he did after that, the race was over. Those two cars are way too close in performance for the SRT to play catch up. If he had left the line even with the Mustang, he should have slightly pulled on it, no more than say 3 cars AT MOST. Like someone else said, if they were to race from a roll it probably would have been a different story, but who knows. I personally dont believe in running from a roll, but thats just me. Just wanted to throw my .02 in as I hate seeing people rip cars, any car for that matter. I refuse to rip anything (Honda's, Mustangs, Camaro's, ETC) because somewhere out there is something faster.
Ok, just watched the vid - SRT guy couldnt drive it

Hey I owned and 04 SRT4 and an 05 Gt, but never at the same time. I traded the SRT in for the stang in march. My impression is that the SRT was waaaay easier to shift than the stang is. You have to be more careful with the clutch and even the stick movement is smoother in the SRT. I don't know which would be faster, too close to me, it all comes down to the driver. But because the SRT is easier to get good shifts in (for me at least) it takes a much better driver in in the stang in order to beat the SRT.
I know a guy with an 04 SRT4 that I plan on racing, I hope to beat him, but my shifting ability has never gotten as good as it was with the SRT.

I agree on the shifting - not a big difference, but the shifter in the SRT is taller and the action is a little smoother. My girlfriend races the Stang and has run a 14:30 to my 14:21 in the car so she can drive stick. We raced a few times, me in the SRT and her in the Stang, and by second gear i am about 3 car lengths ahead of her. We have also run on the highway, side by side, and the SRT really pulls on Stang. She got frustrated and now were looking into a supercharger and the Magnaflow exhaust for the Stang. Here is a pic from a local cruise night at a Dodge dealership with the Stang next to my SRT and my dads Biscayne ...

the 05 GT should have the srt4. i guess it depends on the driver. there's been people who have gotten a 13.6 out of a stock 05 GT. SRT-4s are about the same as a 99-04 GT, right? low 14s, high 13s.
