What are the dimensions for the spring leaf pads on a 9" axle?  Does the driver's side have more tube length on the outer side of the spring pad than the passenger side?  Or should they be equal?  I mounted some rear tires, and looking at the clearance at the wheel wells, the driver's side sticks out about 1/2" to an 1" more so than the passenger's side.  Not really noticeable to the average eye, but it bother's me.  Everything is bolted up properly and fits with no issue.  It seems like the axle is .5" to far to the left.  Is this normal, and is this ok?

the distance between the spring perch and the outside flange of the housing should be the same on both sides. The perches should be 43" center to center and then the distance from the perch to the flange varies based on year.

Daze:  I think the driver's side axle isn't all the way seated.  There are 2 set's of splines in the true-trac that the driver's side axle slides into and it may not be fully seated in the 2nd set.  If I pull the axle out, will it mess up the races and seals?  Can I easily just re-install the axle using the smae races and seals?  I thought I got it installed right and I hate to pull it all apart and it not be the problem.  But it is off and I need to find the culprit.  What is the typical dimension from inside axle hub to inside axle hub on a 67 9"? (no backing plates or brake garb is in the way of this measurement, just a straight line from inside hub to inside hub)

As long as you lift up on the axle as you remove it so the weight of the axle is not on the seal you should be fine. as far as the dimention you asked for I do not know but I do know wheel flange to housing flange needs to be the same on both sides.

Okay then.  It looks like I am disassembling the left side to make sure.  I cannot rest until I know because it bugs the hell out of me.  I know something is off.  Thanks for your help, I'll update this thread to keep everyone enlightened on my problem.

For your 67, spring perch to spring perch should be 43". Overall width from housing flange to housing flange should be 54.25". Axle face to axle face should be 59.25". Spring perch to housing flange should be 5.625" on both sides.
