NO! Even if you over rev the engine you will only run into the rev limiter. Just don't go doing anything dumb like neutral starts or driving fast and dropping DOWN to too low a gear. Down shifting in the rain is a no-no too. Plus around town(up to 40 mph)I turn OFF the overdrive. I shift manually all the time. Have fun!

awesome...ok i lied i have manually shifted just didnt wanna say i did and someone say yeah its bad and feel like an idiot lol ok cool that answers my question, i only manually shift friday and saturday nights out cruzing it really confuses some other drivers cuz say you start out in first and go about 3500 rpm than shift to second than take ur foot off the accelorator and wait a min?!?! confused myself ah yes, take ur foot off the accelorator and wait for the rpms to drop and than accelorate, it really comes close to sounding like a standard.

actually... when you are manually shifting, the computer is still doing the actual shifting and it won't shift unless it thinks it safe... so if you try to drop to to low of a gear or try a neutral drop, it won't shift until the RPMs come down the the computer thinks it's safe to shift...
