I was going to do this on my own but I just don't have the time anymore. How much am I looking at for say the dealership or a local mechanic to install a 8.8 Rear End Differental w/ 3.73 gears already installed and a shaftmaster driveshaft? Also, when buying a new rear end, do I need to get oil for it aswell? I'm buying it from v6mustangstuff.com

I don't know the shop time rate for swapping out the rear, but IMO it should take a competent mechanic with the proper tools and lift <3 hours to swap the rear and install the driveshaft. How much are shops charging per hour for labor these days?

More than you want to know....and twice as much as they should....I paid $75 per hour for my Gears and T-lock...

i would guess it would be less than a gear install. my gear/lsd install came out to $300 for labor alone so assuming you have all the parts needed, i say ~$200, possibly less? i had wondered the same thing about a DS install alone.

I just posted something on install prices a few days ago, you can use it as a gauge if you'd like:

It's not the same stuff you're getting put on, but gives you a general idea. The exhaust I think is about $400 for installation so that takes away from the labor total.
