The struts that hold the trunk lid on my '02 vert are a royal pain in the arse. They're slow to let the trunk open & slow letting the lid close. I know "that's their job" to smooth out the trunk lid opening/closing but they're TOO SMOOTH!

Are all year vert trunk struts like that? Does anyone sell an aftermarket strut that works better?

No replies  Seriously, does the trunk lid on your vert open & close just fine?

Mine opens slooowwwllllyy and resists my trying to open it faster,, then it's just too slow to want to be closed..  I'm wondering if I detatch the strut on one side maybe just the other side will be enough..?

i havent had any problems with the struts on my 94. they open and close just fine. but they have also been used twice as much as yours.  i would think that if you took one of the struts off then it wouldnt close evenly, but im not sure.

Mine STILL after 14 years and no replacements, open slow as hell.  (and resist opening any faster).  But its always closed fast, no problems there.  Try aftermarket ones, don't think they're too expensive.

I have a 90 and mine seem to work just fine, open and close at the same speed which is fairly fast.
