ok I know this is going to sound very vague...I bought a 1994 mustang GT automatic and it is slow as all get out! I have recently put under drive pulleys, equal length ceramic headers, cold air intake, and bigger throttle body(70mm). The car was slow before all this but, these parts only changed noise and absolutely no noticeable speed! I've taken it to a ford dealership twice and a local shop 3 times and that cost me a LOT of money (got me no where) so I need as much help as possible please! I stomp on the gas and it just has nothing! I had the transmission checked out and according to them it was fine. a 4cylinder stock civic beats it off the line! Horrible!!! All I need is somewhere to start please!! Thank you! OH and the mustang only has 55,000 original miles!! im so frustrated!!!

Get gears first, 3.73 or 4.10 choose your poison, next get a good set of heads and an aftermarket intake manifold. You should wake your car up good from these upgrades. I did all of that for about 1200 bucks and picked up good power from it.

what are your plans for the car? if your staying on the street and need to pass cali emissions i would stick with beefing up the 302. I'd say gears, suspension, and HCI... then see how you feel.

ya i was actually thinking about switching my auto over to a manual! i found a guy parting out his mustang and it's got all the manual parts! I dunno? anyone think that's actually worth it? i mean instead i could put a shift kit in it? cuz if i change it over i'll probably want some different gears!

If you can get the parts I say do it!  In my opinion, to get the full effect you have to have  a manual trans, plus I have never heard anyone say they want to go back to an auto once they did the swap.

im trying to do at t5 swap, and if he gives you everything for $250, that would be one hell of a deal.

a might be buying a fresh rebuilt t5 and all the stuff for a swap for $1000.....

good luck!

(btw, i have a shift kit in my car, its fun when it barks from first into second, but thats about it. id just swap to a t5 if i was you, youll pick up 20-40hp from drive line loss, and also drop 50lbs off the car!)
