I have a 88 GT convertible I'd like to get some advice on. the convertible top motor went out and I got a replacment (ebay)and installed it. the top now goes down just fine (although slow compared to what it used to do) however can't get the top to go back up without helping hands (usually one person on each side) to get it to the center of it's run. When the top gets to the high point it goes the rest of the way down fine (although very rapidly). I filled the motor reservoir to the top of the bottom of the hole in the end (with dextron III) of the motor however it doesn't seem to help. Is there supposed to be some way top bleed the system? anyone know what I may have missed? thanks, stanguy
How did you fill it? I just changed the line on my 86 GT. I don't know how to fill it. I heard that you have to put it up and down and keep filling it back up.
Fill with automatic trans fluid to top of the plug hole. There is no bleeding involved !!! The motor you got off ebay sounds like a dud. I've been there and done that.
