I was in the Airforce, I was actually stationed at Hurlburt as well. I was in the 23 STS, I was only there for about 3 months before I got out.

ORIGINAL: brian1570 how/why did u get out? I'm not sure if this was directed at me or not but I got out with their volunteer reduction program. I've been out for about 4 years now(in for a year) and it's a decision I still question but it is the decision I made so I have to live with it.

Air Force, 21 years. Now permanently retarded. 12 years at one assignment? How did you manage that? I had 12 assignment in 21 years. I retired because I was getting ready for another PCS.

My best friend from HS is still stuck in Utah and he about killed me when he heard I gave up Hurlburt.

I really think for some people it's the best thing you could do. Especially with the AF, my recruiter just retired at 38. She gets a check every month (she retired as a E-7) and now she just works some job she enjoys at home and is loving life. Of course it doesn't hurt that her husband makes crazy money but either way.

For some people iot is the best thing to do. In 21 years I went to a lot of wierd places, did a lot of oddball stuff, saw a lot of unusual things, and met some great people. I even got the AF to pay for my school. I started out as an E-1, and left as an O3-E. I started out with no stripes and no hair, and ended up the same way. It was a long journey, and sometimes arduous. But what a great trip it was. I don't regret a minute of it. As for my retirement check, well, lets just say I won't be making a trip to Barrett-Jackson any time soon.

Did a hitch in the army, 31C, stationed TX and Korea most of the time. Then worked for defense contractors for the next 10 years working on simulators and simulations. Traveled the world working on 'Call for Fire' simulators, and also with JANUS, BBS, CBS battle simulations. (sweet gig). Did 1.5 in Sarajevo working for the State Department (Dayton Peace Accords), training the HVO and the BiH militaries. (money making gig). Ronald "Let's make America Great Again" Reagan as Commander in Chief FTW!
