I got 2 12" Kenwood Excelons and I love them. Definately an awesome sub for the price (I paid $200 for both brand new)....very clear and accurate.

I have worked with many different speakers, and I will always stand by JL audio, and thats all I will put in my car.

Kicker or JL, I'd say kicker cuz its cheaper and performs just as good if not better than a jl w7. Put it this way, a 12" kicker L7 which is just as good as a JL W7 costs around 200 bucks. As a jl w7 would cost you around 500 (700+ retail)

Depends on what you are looking for in a subwoofer.

If you are looking for sound quality JL has everybody beat....but they also have everbody beat on the price.

Alpine also has good sound quality and is cheaper but they dont get as loud unless you get their top of the line.

Audiobahn is a great sounding sub but it is very fragile...they blow very easily.

Kicker has great power. If you want power over sound quality go for some kicker comps.

Rockford is also pretty good but they are picky...if you don't give them the power and the enclosure space they want then they don't sound as good as you think.

Kenwood, Sony, and Ma Audio are good speakers and are a great bang for the buck...that is if you just want a speaker that is above average, and below best.

These are what I recommend. Starting from cheapest to most expenisive this is what I would get.

1) Rockford Fosgate
2) Kicker Comp
3) JL audio (W3 or W7)

I have RF P3 12" powered by a RF 8002 amp. It KNOCKS but I have the power and enclosure they want. Have also heard other P3s that sound like crap.

The box makes the sound. Just like the exhaust on a car makes the sound. Better box better sound. Better exhaust better sound.

In my opinion alpine is the best because although it is expensive, they are crystal clear and loud. What good is a sub if its not clear?

I have 1 Coustic 10" dual voice CF1044 and as far as i'm concerned for the price it pounds and is more than enough bass for the size of car a Mustang is. Put it in a proper box and it's by far the best bang for the buck.

I voted for the Alpine subs. Just as a side note im going to be selling all my stereo equipment soon as im not going to be putting it into the mustang. I wont have the exact model number till sunday though. Everything is stuck in storage.

4 Alpine 12" Type-R DVC's
Alpine Head Unit-CD
1 4 Channel Alpine V12 Expert Amp
1 2 Channel Alpine V12 Expert Amp (1000 Watt)
1 2 Channel Alpine V12 Expert Amp
1 Set Boston Acoustics 3 Ways - I think there 5.5 or 6 inch. Cant remember
1 Set Boston Acoustics Door speakers, they were components but I forgot to get the crossovers out of the doors before I treded car in - 5.25 I think
Plus a bunch of other stuff thats just laying around that I just never even opened.

Im not sure if im going to parting the stuff out or sell it as a whole just yet. If anyone here is interested in anything maybe we can work out some sort of deal. Would love to sell it all at once though.

Nothing but JL Audio sub woofers for me. I have 2 10" JLs, 2 Boston 5X7's, coustic amp, and panasonic head unit. I also put in a **** load of insulation from Hushmat in the trunk to get rid of the vibration. I don't have anymore vibration, do you guys have problems with your trunk vibrating and the cardboard above the stock 5X7's vibrating against the back window.

I have had my fair share of subwoofers and speakers. I STAND FIRMLY behind JL audio. W3's are a good bang for the buck if you arnt serious and W6v2 and w7's are if ur serious about ur music. 10's for ur rock, punk etc.... 12's for your jazz, rap, hip-hop, or combine em' and spooge. If you just want something cheap and clear Alpine Kappa Perfects get the job done, just dont feel it in ur chest like a JL though.

Wow..I feel old ...Lanzar and Cerwin Vega used to be top dogs (late 80-s to mid 90s). Back then, JL Audio and Kicker were just upstarts....

Sony has never been great at speakers. Even their home audio stuff is mediocre. Pioneer...pass for subs.
