sawyer 03-10-2008, 04:15 PM My car has been down at ST Motorsports for a while now. The story is below....

Adam called me a little while ago made the first pass and pulled 505 and 480tq. I asked the psi and he said he thought it was 14.5. He called me back and said he looked into it and it was 12psi:D
More to come throughout the day. Adam says it looks really nice on the KB manifold, photos soon.
samus720 03-10-2008, 04:19 PM Holy crap! I'm curious to see what numbers you'll be pulling once you hit the top end of that supercharger's abilities.

What compression ratio are you running?
So this is a stock bore this is going to be veryinteresting a true 4.6/281c.i. with a 3.4L. I haven't research the rod angle on a stroked 4.6/298/302 but for long engine life sometimes a stock stoke is better imo.
One last question what maf sensor are you running?

Ditto on the MAF and also how much psi are you going to run? I'd like to see some numbers with 20-25psi please!:D
MexGT 03-10-2008, 06:17 PM I'm 99% sure he is using a Diablosport MAFia.

I believe it is 8.8 to 1, it is lower than stock.
I am running the Mafia, it is right near the inlet tube. My car is 1000 miles away right now, so I almost forgot what it looks like. I am waiting on numbers also:(

modaddict 03-11-2008, 02:12 PM Just an update for you guys...
I was at the shop yesterday and John's car was on the dyno. The bypass valve was bad and is being replaced today but the car put down 527rwhp / 484ftq at just over 10 psi with the bypass valve not working correctly.
With the by pass fixed, it will put out more. Great numbers for 10 psi on a 281ci...:)
This blower is not even working yet...lol

CataclysmGT 03-11-2008, 04:40 PM 527 rwhp? HOLY CRAP!
I hope Adam @ ST has time for me this summer to drive from Canada and get some forged internals. It would be awesome to make a holiday out of it, and get a pro to work on my car.
sawyer 03-11-2008, 10:53 PM We are right at??? rwhp and??? rwtq at 20psi and 100 octane (STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS).
I am pretty stoked to get my car back. I will be running the 16 lb pully on pump for the steet to the tune of 545 rwhp and 502 rwtq;)
My car has cats and everything on the heads, cams, and exhaustare stock. If I wanted to drop some more coin we could get 740+ on 100 octane.

What are you referring to here? Is it the heads and valve train? The block? I have heard the block will take up to about 1000hp. If you are saying you have reached the max efficiency of the heads I get it.
Thanks,
And congrats on the numbers that is sick.
Can anyone comment on what a 2.3L whipple would put out at 15psi and pump gas? Stock displacement with stock heads, forged internals, on pump gas.

He was talking about stock 4.6 minus a forged bottom end. The valve train and exhaust are all stock. He's saying this was about the limit without increasing the flow from the stock set-up. L/T's, good valve train, p/p heads, cams, and full exhaust would see over 700 rwhp on his car at 20 psi.
To answer your question - my guess is about 520'ish with a good tune.
Here is what Paul (Psfracer) makes with 16 psi and bolt-on's...
2005 GT Auto / Whipple @ 16psi GI Joe 8-rib / forged bottom end built and tuned by ST Motorsports / 577rwhp-519rwtq / M&H 325's

Yes, it feels good to be getting closer. 545 is going to be great on the street. Adam added the KB gt 500 mass air meter and he said the ideling and drivability are greatly improved.

Modaddict nailed it below. There is a law of diminishing returns on the stock bore and stroke 4.6. At this point I will need to invest probably 3k for every additional 40-50 hp I want to get, so it is tapped out. I am happy with the 545 rwhpdaily driver, I may be able to suprise a random Vett or Bimmernow.
modaddict 03-12-2008, 12:47 PM 'Shock' is a better word...:D
I don't think I'm going to put down 900 strictly because of my trans. It is a power robbing SOB. (I love it though...lol) I would definitely make 900 with a manual and I'll for sure be over 1000 to the crank...[:o]
I lose a whopping 22% with no lock-up and no kickdown on the dyno but my torque curve is going to be up there. My guess is I'm going to see about 810 rwhp and about 940 ftq on the race tune and about 700rwhp / 820 ftq on pump gas for the street...;)
Good thing is we'll know next week...YEAH!!!![8D]

Yeah 500+ to the wheels is fine with me. I dont think I want to change out all the valvetrain or anything for a street car.

MexGT 03-15-2008, 10:35 AM uuhmmmm interesting news, because I asked adam about that 2 weeks ago and he told me that the 3.4 belt is wide enough for not slipping at 16 psi aprox (the psi I'm looking for).

Adam is correct, we were at 22psi. At 16 we he did not have slip. The only pulleys He has are 6 rib, so my 8 rib setup is not being used untilized we can get the wider pulley.

Yeah, I made 3 trips out to 21 plalms or what ever the name of that casino is. Then big John drove it for a week. We had roughly 900-1000 miles on it. My car has been in SoCal for over 4 months, I am afraid that when I get it back it might be gay lol.
Adam is a tuner that knows his stuff, he wouldn't beat on a motor that hadn't been broken in. In fact while I was down there he received 2 jobs from other tuners that had f'd up. One was a forged motor thathad a couplemelted pistons and one was a blower install gone bad. I drove a long way to insure I got the best and I am glad I did;)
Yea, im having to drive from salt lake to vegas this weekend to get it done right. It sucks to have down time especially when its someone elses F-up. Iwould drive days to get it done right. Utah doesnt have anything out here and the only tuner we did have is throwing in the towel.
I'll have 500 city miles on the new motor and 400 or so miles of highway driving to vegas. I have asked around and this seemsto be ok. I'll change the oil at 500 miles though

So what was the total cost for everything ( no need to brek down the numbers and that S/C and intake look amazing! Love the pics and great numbers so far.... doesn't the 8-rib setup come with the pulleys for the 8 rib belt? still learning....where you get the 8 rib setup...is it the GIJoe setup I plan on getting this summer with a new tensioner and crank pulley (all billet aluminum) from another forum (PM for details if you need them...would like to help! ) J
PM sent on the pricing.
Kenne Bell 8 rib kit, but we are running a 6 rib pulley and belt (Whipple is cutting the 8 rib for me).
You must be getting the thumpper tensioner. It is a nice piece, but I went whit Adam's.

hammeron 03-21-2008, 06:59 PM nice looking whipbell ya got there :)
another thing i note, is the lack of a
strut tower brace....if you and MA don't
need 'em, i guess i don't either....
if you guys really needed one, i suppose you
would get custom hoods for the needed
clearance
mygt500 03-21-2008, 07:17 PM Hammeron -I see no hood must have been a clearance problem!;).....LOL J/K
EDIT : Jon thanks for the props J
