I got a 2005 4.0 V6 with a manual trans. First off I am very happy with the car. Keep in mind this comes form a die hard Chevy guy who has owned many camaros and firebirds. But back to the trans. To respond to all the other posts about wierd trans behavior (and there are tons of them, on this site and a few other mustang sites)I dont have any of them. Well my throwout bearing makes a little noise, but have you ever had one that didn't. Other than that I dont have any clunks or clicks or trouble engaging gears or working the clutch or drive train slop or anything. Even though my car has 30k miles on it. Everything works great EXCEPT!! MY MANUAL TRANS PROBLEM IS!! Under hard accelleration the sound and viberation is very harsh. It is hard to describe but it is like a harsh growling vibration. When I floor it, it is more of a rough buh buh buh buh buh rather than a smooth zzzzzzzzzzzz. Kind of like when you drive a v8 that is only running on 7 cylinders. I Was told that this is the way a High compression 6 banger transfers power. I was told that the additional 2 cylinders of a v8 really smoothes out the transfer of power. Other than that, the car runs really well. It is well tuned and runs and idles very smooth. The previous owner (told me) had it to the dealership twice (two different ones) and they both told him "thats just the way these V6 manuals act" I am having a very hard time getting any feedback on this since manual trans V6 stangs are very few and far beetween. Any info would be appreciated. thanx
Most of the issues you have are common. even with 3.73's, under hard accel when under 2000 rpm the T-5 will growl. It does not like 1500-2000 for that much torque..best to do is down shift so hard accel is in 2250+ rpm range then all smoothes out. It does it with mine and ive replaced about all you can in the driveline...oh and by the way my throw-out bearing made noise from the dealers Lot with 8 miles on it...

although i like the whine the tranny has when getting up to speed under hard acceleration... I've had two friends ask me if that was a supercharger lol. Might be loud, but it sounds like the nature of these "performance" cars. you don't buy a mustang to have absolute luxury... otherwise every one would want one!!!
