hey guys, recently I've seen a lot of superchargers for sale. I was thinking of getting either a vortech or procharger supercharger for my stock 89 mustang. Would my stock internals be able to handle this? How much power would I make? would it be worthe it for the amount of boost I can run on my stock 5.0? thanks in advance. o and I would rebuild or get a new short block for my car withen a couple months to a year at most.

Id go with the vortech, a procharger is a little much for a stock block. with a vortech expect around a 150 over what you got. Im running 8psi on my turbo setup, and 12 psi occasionally. on my stock block. ever think of a turbo?

I was thinking about it but I dont want the turbo to lash out when Im going around where I live because I dont want to slide off a cliff or into a hill side because every turn around me theirs either a cliff on one side or a hill and my car has horrible handeling and slides out a lot how it is thats why I was thinking a supercharger to keep the power more consistant than a turbo, am I right or ??

yeah your basically right, mine can get a little hairy at times but thats only at higher rpms. I think if you want another 150 horses, go for the s/c. its probley easier.

Lol prochargers are mad expensive. that kit looks complete for more air, but you still may have to upgrade your fuel system. if you dont want to piece stuff together, check out my sponsors website. they have awsome kits for your engine.

hey i got a question for you floodzilla...you said you run 8 pounds, up to 12 every so often. right now i got a 150 shot on the stock motor. it runs excellent but im getting tired of filling the bottle. im going to turbo it pretty soon but not sure what size injectors to use. and is their anything else you had to change?
as for the fuel system on the vortech kit you are looking at you dont need to do a thing. It uses the stock injectors and a FMU to help keep up fuel pressure under boost. The kit you are looking at is a great starter kit, im still running an older version of that same supercharger and its holding up to 450rwhp without a problem. Just to let you know if you want to bump it up past the 5-6psi it outputs stock you will need to get a bypass valve.

which one of the kits doesent require fuel upgrades? and by bumping it up to 5-6 psi you said i need a bypass valve to output stock does that mean I have to run at least 5-6 psi to get more than stock power?
the SC trim kit which you posted a link to does not require fuel sytem upgrades. you need a paypass valve to run anything OVER 5-6 psi so If you want to run more than that i would go with the S trim kit, its a little more expensive but comes with the bypass valve. Your going to make much more than stock power just on 6 psi

ok good I thought I was going to have to have to buy one of the kits that was like 4 or 5 grand lol. So with the sc trim kit I wont have to buy anything other than the kit itself? I'm not planning on going with anything over 6 pounds but how much would that increase my power? enough to make it worth buying the kit? how do you like yours and did you go from stock to just the supercharger or put everything on at once? if so how did you like it? thanks for all your help 1991lx5.0 and floodzilla
yup everything you will need is right in the kit. At 6 lb you should be making around 300rwhp. My car went from stock to the A trim kit at 6lb then to where it is now. You will def. notice a big pick up in power once you hit 3K rpms. And I know you said you dont plan on running anything over 6lb put trust me you will. modifications are a sickness once you start you will just want more and more and more. I said i would be happy with 6lb then i thought i would be happy with the H/C/I and now im starting to look into ways to make more power, it never ends. So if you have an extra couple hundred i would go with the kit with the bypass valve that way if you want to upgrade down the road you can

around how much would it be for the fuel system, and what would i need? and what sponsor are you talking about? the turbo-kits.com?
Yeah the fuel system depends on how much power you want. im runnin 48lbs injectors with adjustable regulators. id start with bigger injectors (around $400), a fuel pump ($150), regulators ($105), possibly rails ($4-700), i know im missing something. "technically" turbokits.com is my sponsor cause they gave me a few little parts for real cheap, plus i really like them, they have great stuff. as for bottlebaby, id go with at least 42lbs injectors which is good up to about 450, i know there expensive, but id rather be rich then lean. hope i helped!

all right, I'm really supprised that kit comes with everythng you need to install it. I'll probably get a supercharger kit most likely the sc trim because I'm planning on not going too radical only runnin on the street as my daily driver and at the track maybe 3 times a year. Well once I get the supercharger kit I'll make another post most likely withen a couple months of the outcome Thanks again for all your help floodzilla

Hey guys I was looking at doing the same kit pretty much the same situation except I will be running 3.73 and some exhaust.
My question is with this setup could I still run a 100-150 shot or what more would I have to do to handle the extra adder. I just want the extra for certain situations.....

You shouldn't need huge injectors. I built a roots kit for a friend running 30lb injectors with no problem at 10psi, but other than the supercharger & exhaust his car was completely stock.
I'd recommend getting a bypass valve even for 6psi if possible. If you can weld or have a friend that can, you could even go to the junkyard & grab one off some turbo cars. I've gotten a couple from 1st gen dsm's. The bigger the volume after the compressor, the more you'll probably want to get one. Not just from higher psi.
