Has anyone drilled or slotted this piece of plastic to allow engine compartment heat to escape over the top of our cars?  Am I wrong in assuming cooler engine=more effecient=more HP=faster? I know this plastic piece covers our cabin air filters on the passenger side of our cars.  Not all Engine heat would be extracted from below though....since hot air RISES!  I wonder if this plastic piece could be strategically drilled/slotted to drop engine temps at all?  It has holes drilled into it in the corners to allow water drainage, what would a few more holes/slots do if it dropped engine temps?

......Maybe some mathmetician can calculate what amount of RWHP a 1 degree drop in temperature could get us.

I was joking about the RWHP drop b.t.w.  I realize it is completely dependent on you cars specific mods.

i think that same mathematician would probably end up recommending a heat-extracting hood

bet you'd see more results (if any big ones) with a hood than those plastic pieces

Does a heat extracting hood funnel the air up or down?  Wouldn't a mod like this help airflow either way?

definately... there are some nice hoods that are heat-extracting. I'm pretty sure most are deisgned to pull hot air up and out, although a couple might go opposite as well if I'm not wrong...
