Using flux would help remove the solder easier with less chance of burning the board. Just make sure it IS NOT water soluble. After removing the component, use some alcohol or flux remover and swab away the flux with a Q-tip. Then put the new LED on.

i just thought of something... the info center would still be green...
Joolander your so correct about that, I thought the same thing too. But here is some great news...
I started working on mines last night, and I pulled out one side of the steering wheel to get more info about the LED's to buy. I aquired some usefull information. I found out that almost all of the electronic components in the mustang is done by a company called Alps. Here is the website http://www.alps.com
Well im ghonna call them tommorow, so i can get some better information on there LED's and to ask if they sell the info center in Blue. In the write up, take a closer look at the color of his blue LED's in the finish photo. Its not matching correctly, the blue look's lighter than the AC knob. The information I need from Alps is the brightness level of there LED's in the Mustang, which is known as MCD's. I think the guy who did the write up said he used 600 MCD's and that if he did it again he would have used 200 - 300 MCD's instead. I figure the 600 MCD's is to bright. I did measure the size of the LED thats I pulled out. My measurments was closer too 3.5 x 2.8MM. Here is the link to the exact LED. And the MCD Level 250 which is between what he said he should have used.
The LED's I found on ebay is way to bright. And most of the sellers are in Japan...Who trust sending there money to Japan? LOL
He also made another mistake by calling the LED (PLCC-2 SMT LED total =50) What he ment in the red area was SMD not SMT.....
Hope this help's.....I'll keep you guys posted about the Blue Information Center. The Info center is more of a job for an Advance Electronic Tech. For the rookies, you might be able to take it to a TV Repair shop, for installing.....Ill find out the Price tommorow

So I changes all my Climate controls to blue. The look great btw!!! Since I have an auto... does anyone have any ideas about changing the shifter lens to blue? The bulb under there is white... but there's a green lens (at least I think so) that's making the light look green. The only thing I can think of is getting some transparent paint, but I dunno
good find cartel.. keep us posted on the install!!.. maybe i will do this if we get a hurrican this year
What the hell does Hurricane's have to do with you be able to do this? LOL
LOLOLOLOL!!! <--- it means that we have about 3 days of stupidness and sitting around.. picking are noses, blah blah.. im actually somewhat hopping there is one this year.. bc i will............. change all my interior LED's.. 1,000,000% detail my car.. (clay bar, cleaner wax, polish, etc).. pollish my valve covers and paint my TB and Fuel Rails.. ... the list can go on and on.. lol.. wax the under body!? LOL.. prolly clay it first.. then wax it
awsomeaussies.. lets see some pics man!?.. and about the shifter.. theres two fixes..
1) GET A MANUAL BC ITS A MUSTANG NOT A KIA (lol) 2) just unplug the white bulb so there is no light shining through.. (if it is a white bulb..)
