I can't decide whether to keep the factory sport stripe or peel it off.
But I do like polls.
So... what's your opinion on the factory stripe?

By the way, my brand new Mustang is Mineral Gray with Charcoal leather, IUP and of course the Sport exterior package.

If you paid for it ( cheapest I have seen factory was $500! ) then keep it. I have stripes on mine ( not factory ).

I am lucky... I do custom painting on motorcycles... so will be designing and doing my own stripes on my car.

Current plan... My car is Torch Red. I have picked out a dark candy apple red which will be 2 stripes down the Hood, trunk and wrapping the wing approximately 12" wide. On the hood in silver under the stripe will be ghosted “Running Horses” facing the front of the car right and left. On the wing wrap - right side - will be a running horse ghosted facing to the left. The stripes will have a double 1/16 pinstripe border.. I also plan on fading a stripe out of the C Vent on the doors fading into a horses head. Should look interesting.

I actually just pulled my stripes off last night...

I was told that it would be a pain, and I'd have to use a blow dryer, and go very slow... blah blah blah...

So, I run my electric extension cord out to the car, grab the blow dryer, and carefully start pulling back the stripes...

First thing, you don't need a blow dryer... just do it on a hot day... park your car so the side you will be removing the stripes from is in direct sunlight, let it sit for a lil bit (20 minutes maybe)... that should warm it up plenty...

Then you can just use your fingernail (or some other non-scratching device) to lift a corner of the stripe and pull it back... they come off very easily... I wouldn't try to pull very fast, but you don't need to go super slow either.

A quick wash to remove any of the dirt/debree that had built up along side the stickers, and I was done... no sticker residue/glue was left on the car to worry about...

I am VERY happy with the way the car looks without the stripes.

I would have ordered the door stripe that runs along the bottom of the side. However, it was not available w/o a spoiler and cost about $248. I'm haveing one custom made. A Pony by the front wheel well running to a 2" stripe along the door to the rear wheel well. It will have "4.0 Liter" cut into it. The letters are cutouts that let the body color show through. Pony and stripe color are Sonic Blue.

n47h4n, are you talking about the stipes down the side that say Mustang, or are you talking about hood/roof/deck stripes? I think these cars look great with hood/roof/deck (or better yet, bumper to bumper) stripes but the color combination is what's mportant.

I don't like the black mustangs with the white stripes on the side. It's too much of a contrast. However, my mustang is Windveil Blue with black side stripes and I like the way it looks. It all depends on the color combinations.

Yes, I am talking about the side factory installed sport package stripe.
I have the Mineral Gray with a black side stripe.
I had originally thought I might peel it off, but now I am not so sure.
The poll seems about 50/50 too :) which I guess Ford hits the options package nail on the head.
I guess a custom designed stripe would be pretty cool too, but I already paid for the factory one. Not sure I would want to drop the cash.

I can't decide. What do all of you think? It has silver side and top stripes.

IMHO the Stang just looks so much better with the stripes. I like the bumper to bumper "le Mans" stripes but to do it right, they must be painted on.

The GT style tripple solid side stripes look great also. I don't like the "mustang stripes" the dealers put on.

3M decal stripes are fairly easy to install, it just takes a lot of patience. Graphic express has a nice variety of stripes for the '05 mustang including Boss, Shelby, Le Mans, GT and Pony stripes.

I like hood and trunk stripes. Ovr the roof and down the bumpers just seems like to much. Also everyone is doing that. I want stripes, but something different, I just dont know what for sure.

I'm going to go bare this weekend on mine. The only reason I didn't mind the car I bought having the package that included them is because I did want the spoiler on the back. I like the clean look that the Mustangs without the stripes have and I know that 2 to 3 years down the road I would just find them cheesy. I know some people really like them and it's funny to see the poll is really close to 50/50, so either you like 'em or you hate 'em it's a personal choice.

Here's mine now, I'll post a new one after I go bare. ;)

myself...i dont like it at all. I think the car is so clean and has so many great styling points and the stripe just cheapens it up.

My 05 has the strips at the bottom and I love it, I think it makes the car. Mine is black on black convert with the white sport stripe on bottom and I wouldn't have it any other way. It makes the car stand out.
