Horrible... Just yesterday it was 60 degrees out, I washed and waxed my winter driver all by hand and today it barely dipped above freezing and snowed about 4 inches. I went out to get in it to drive to work and there were two big splatterings of bird crap on the windshield to boot. Every time I go out and mess with one of our vehicles I think how much easier it would be with one of these things- I'm hesitant to use my mom's old polisher (which came from either walmart or kmart) just because of the horror stories I've heard of swirl marks and scratches.

Let's say I were to throw caution to the wind, what would be my best bang for the buck here keeping in mind I shouldn't spend more than $150-170 or so, what pads and other little things would I need to be able to do basic maintenance on the paint that I keep up on care with and maybe the occasional hard work on one of our trucks that's scratched to hell from off-road use?

I suspect I'd also need some polishes, all I have now is a bottle of your light polish.

I also can't help but notice how glaringly well your business does here, you say sale and everyone here goes cross-eyed and starts throwing money at you, you're a horrible person

I would highly recommend going with my Porter Cable package deal.  This includes the PC, backing plate, orange light cutting pad, white polishing pad, and a gray finishing pad.  For your medium polish I would go with the Optimum Compound, just use this and finish off with the Light Polish you already have.

The good thing about the PC is that you can be a beginner and get excellent results without having to worry about hurting you paint.  That is why the PC is so popular, it is almost impossible to damage your paint with it.

Alright, few more questions here. First, what sort of life can I expect from the set of pads that would come with the kit, and second, what sort of shipping charges am I looking at? I'm not really looking to be left with $45 in my account for the rest of the month if it tacks on $20 or more for shipping

That pads will last a long time.  I got pads that I wash every week that has lasted over a year.  So if you aren't polishing all of the time, they should last you for quite a while.

Shipping for something that size is going to be $19.95.  Actually it is going to be more than that going to Wyoming, but I'm going to cover the rest.

Right then, looks like I won't be getting the package with polish. I think I'll have to wait till saturday though to put the order through, just as I was typing this up I got a call and something came up that's going to eat some more money so I'll have to see where I'm at after that. Thanks for the help.

Can the PC be used with a certain pad to apply waxes as well? Im tired of doing it by hand but fear somthing like a PC might be to abrasive to use for monthly waxing

Yes you can use the gray finishing pad to apply waxes, this is so much faster plus you can spread the wax more even this way.  Then you can just do your polishing every 3-4 months to keep your paint looking its best.

Thx for the info, ill be placing a large order since i need to restock all my towels etc for the new season  Ill compair it to my traditional hand waxing photo's and mabye post both up here when im done to show ppl the difference. Which polishing compound do you reccomend btw? My car doesnt have any swirls or anything like that, mabye some light spider webbing that happens over 2 years, but its only noticeable in the right light, and i wouldnt call it deep at all.

I would go with the PC package to start with.  Then you can either go with my Light Polish, Poorboys SSR1 or Optimum Polish, all of these are great polishes.

Next I would apply my Wet Glaze to add a lot of depth and wetness to the paint.

For your wax I have my Obsessive Detail Wet Wax or Poorboys Natty's blue paste wax.  I'm currently out of my wax.  The Natty's blue is very popular and will add some more depth and wetness.

A lot of people are topping their carnauba with the Optimum Opti Seal, this is a wipe on and walk away sealant.  You don't have to buff off because it just dissappears.  1 ounce will do about 5-7 cars.  This sealant can be applied before or after wax.

Also be sure to checkout my high quality microfiber towels.  All of the towels I carry are a 70/30 grade.  The Ultra Premium and Super Fly towels are most best sellers.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.  Thanks!

Justin

As soon as your back in stock ill pick up some wet wax and sealent, TBH ive clayed my car and went with meguires 3 step cleaner/polish/wax, although it was done by hand, but I just wasent satisfied. I mean it looked great, but not 8 hours of claying/polish/waxing great. I love the look of a "bleeding" if you will look on the paint so ill be waiting for your wet glaze

Ok I have some Compound, would the Poli seal work as the second polish after using compound, or would I need to get a light polish?

Poli Seal will work fine as your final polish after the Compound.  It was also give you some nice depth and a lot of slickness.
