Alright Dear Fellas, Ive been giving this idea some thoughts for a while now and maybe some of yous can help my idea come true with the methodologist in how to get this done. Ive been thinking that we all should have some sort of ranking in this fourum for instance ( Me, rank #17, BlueBeast #227:D, Grabber #339:D, 1Bad3V #79:D) well you guys get the idea. Now whoever that would like to be acknowledge in this ranking should provide a verified time slip. Im not sure about the rules yet (How many times are u allowed to provide the timeslip per month) but im still givin it some thoughts. Note: This is only for entertainment purposes, no bragging nor bashing is to come from this. Anyways maybe we could have an overall ranking or maybe a group for each car for instance Mustang GT: Grabber #59 :D, 1Bad3V # 58:D, Sinister #3:D, Moostang #5, etc. Vettes: (MRs.Rogers #5:D, C6Vette #2:D,BicketyBam #1:D), etc. Im thinking only 1/4 miles time slips should be allowed for the ranking, so sorry for u guys that only have a 1/8 of mile,(Sinister you will have to bring your ass to moroso [8D]). Well this idea needs some wise support in how to get this done, so everyone is welcome to drop some perspective. Keep it civil !!!!

Welllll.. I don't know about the rest of the guys, but when I'm home I don't have time during the week to get to the strip, so that leaves four weekends in a month.. Say you allow slips to be submitted once a month, and they have to be in by Wednesday of the last week of the month to leave a day or two for whomever's going to do the bean-counting to do up the statistics? I'm not quite sure about classes though.. I'd be tempted to say go with V8, V6, 4-banger, and overall, with an individual ranking for each bracket, and an overall posting for everybody.. Trying to do it by car would be a little tedious and slightly confusing, but then maybe that's me.. lol Just my .02 ;)

Ohhh yah, and I forgot the mod brackets too.. Each bracket would have separate standings for N/A and F/I.. Not too terribly FUBAR I don't think.. :D

^^ i like your idea, (4 banger, v6, v8 classes) are very logistic, but i think an overall ranking is the best bet cuz by classes is a lot of work. I also like the idea of submitting the time slip once a month. Any more ideas please feel free of doing so

^^^ True, but then with only an overall ranking bracket, you run into "well, who has the fastest V8?" Or "who's got the fastest 4-banger?" see what I mean? Hrrmmm.. If there were a way to post it to it's own page in the forums, it WOULD be possible to write an HTML sort function so you could sort the results by class without having to do it all before-hand.. That would save work, but you'd have to talk to the techies running the forum to see if that's something they'd consider letting us do here in S/S..

yeah maybe the moderators can give us a hand to ease the process of it. (JD169) Help will be aprpeciated. I agree on your statement above, perhaps the different V classes should be the best option.

Also true.. though if we can manage to get it put into a web-based spreadsheet, there really wouldn't be any need to do each class separately. If we can build sort functions into the headers for each column, or maybe a drop down menu(i.e. like some of the newer MS access versions can..), then each user could sort by whichever class they want to see. So essentially all the data would be going into the same place, we'd just have to be sure to get standarized data-sets from each person that submits.. Other than that it's all in getting the page built and fat-fingering the numbers/data in, and that shouldn't take very long at all I would think..

I can't help it though, I'm an intel analyst, and when you've got 700+ reports an hour coming across your desk you learn to sort REAL quick.. lol As far as the tracks, I don't know about most places, but Kennedale opens around the middle of march depending on the weather, and Ennis is usually open by the last week in march/1st week in april. Those are the only two NHRA sanctioned strips I know around Texas, though there are probably more..

So ballpark I'd probablythere's at least two, maybe three weeks to grab whatever help canbe had..

Sure it would. Despite the fact that your a full second off the average C6 Z06 time, you are proven track guy.;)

I like the idea of different classes based on number of cylinders or displacment. But maybe you could also keep a list of the top 10 fastest cars in s/s reguardless of what engine they have.

That's what Caci and I were talking about.. And this is all only unless somebody else has any other ideas, but what I had in mind, would have all the data on an HTML page in one big spread sheet, with drop down menus in the header of each column that would let you sort the page by class, with overall being an included choice..

I was always a big bike guy growing up, especially in Japan. I remember watching all of the old-school guys like Kenny Rogers Sr. and Mick Doohan racing at Motegi and Suzuka, so the different bike classes based on displacement is kind of where I got the idea..

i think is doable, out of 88075 only 1/10 of them go to the tracks. And most of those 1/10 do not post their time slips nor they will care about this ranking so chanses are that only the guys that normally hang out around here will post their time slips. And by the way having the ranking is only for 1/4 mile time slips. It is a lot of work as it is so adding another ranking for 1/8 as of right now is just TOO MUCH WORK unless someone figures a way.

i think one big overall ranking is fine. it does not matter what size engine etc. blue beast is faster than at least 3/4ths of the mustangs one here. he is proof that it don't really matter, esspecially if it becomes part of our avatar or what ever you would have 5- people with a #1 ranking and 2 and 3 etc becasue of catagories.

Easy way to settle that is you have to have atleast 100 post, and atleast 10 post in the last 2 weeks to be in. Or somthing along those lines.

Too bad I have not hit the track with my S/C... Post ranking really is not a "fair thing" since most guys are post whores if you know my mean. The 1/4 mile idea is good. Hopefully I'll get some slips for the rankings.

Just do one list. If someone wants to pick through and find out what number they are, they can do it on their own time.

Like in the 4.6 section, there must be a post count minimum, and the slip must be clearly from whatever specified dates you set.

It'll be a lot of work to make individual lists and what not, not to mention someone would have to sit down and sort out the slips to decide which car goes onto what list.

He uses "Modaddict" now - the car broke into the 9s before his current build. He's posted about putting in a 331 CID motor with a 3.4L Whipple and looking for 8s. Had a new cage put in to be legal as well. IMO - he's got one of the fastest S197s around.

Doodad- maybe on a track, provided I don't have a stall and dr's. However, on the street, where I can burnout and launch my car at 3-4K RPM, that's a different story now huh... We'll see, I don't expect to win, but I don't expect to get raped.

even from a roll your car performs pretty good. you were next to me all the way thorugh my 3rd gear with my cobra and 3rd gear was one of my stongest points. ;)

at track i think he should get you by i would say 3-4 cars and from a roll close race but you should have him since his car his car is set up for drag racing.

I'll play this game. Times for the 4.0 are complete and this season will be sporadic for ET's I imagine as I deal with traction, suspension and getting the car dialed in...should be a fun year.

And you ran an 11.7 - wow! Why did you lift? What would you have run if you didn't?

It was a 7.31@95mph 1/8mile so it would have been low 50's high 40's. I lifted because it was hard to go in 4th gear, I thought it was my clutch. Come to find out it was the trans, so the trans is in the shop now. The best I went that day was a 11.57@118 with a slow shift into 4th. With the trans fixed and a new clutch looking for low 30's.

well aparently is alot of work involved for just 1 person. There was an idea of designing a e-database but who the hell knows how. I was trying access but it is still a lot damn work. We are still waiting for you guys to give us any better idea. I Hardly doubt there would be more than 100 fellas from this forum actually reporting their slips, but who knows. Do you have an idea?

I dont need a ranking to let me know modaddict is faster than me. Or Blownsvt & Buckman are going to be faster.[&o]:D

we have a blacklist on another forum. if we made a sticky thread in this section it should be easy to manage on an excel spread sheet. post a verified time slip that counts and your info is added to the sheet.

would be easiest if we just pick a date to submit the first slips of the season. like sometime in may afet everyone has had a chance to get out at least once.

The 4.6 section just has a simple list that has the top 25 people in a post. It's nothing special in terms of computer know-how. The initial write up will be the most tedious part, after that it is just editing for new times. Maybe we can do that to get started, that may motivate someone with advanced computer skills to put together something with more capabilities.

If you guys want I can throw together a PHP page with times listed.

Easy enough and you guys could just post your info up and I could get them put into the database.

I say go for it. Once something is started, people will be motivated.I'll post my slip first so I can have rain at the top for abrief period!!

Then I will have some queries above in a drop down (Stock, mustang, camaro, srt4, whatever) then split down by generation...

What do you guys want to do for now. At this time of year many of us have not been down the track yet. Do we want to include last years slips for guys like me, where I live the tracks are not open yet? How about vids as proof?

right now we are in the testing stage, we are concerned about not all the tracks be open yet so we havent decided yet when we will start taking time slips. As of right now you sre81z is working on the e-database. We still need the rules yet. So new ideas are welcome.

Video as proof could be accepted as long as the reading of the #s are clear for us to see. But again you will need to provide the 60ft, reaction time, etc.

I am not too worried about myself as I think there are plenty of people on here who have seen my car run or have run against me. It just seems that as of right now it's biased towards people who live in an area where the weather is nice. THe site itself does have a timeslip data base as I am sure you are aware.

One track opened today, but the weather is still too cold IMO. I know I would not hook today and it could be dangerous past the 1/8th for any decently fast car. I would say by mid april we should be going pretty strong around here.

Kennedale opened 27 Feb, so it's already open, but I know at least a couple of major events have been canceled already because of weather.. I couldn't say whether or not Ennis is open yet but I could probably find out..

Hmm.. I am thinking... I need to add more data into the database (month, year, DA, etc) anything noteworthy should be stored..especially if you want to compare by month, year, day, conditions, etc.... this maybe overly complicated ... we will start it off simple for now... ive been running various queries through my head all weekend...I think I have some good stuff :)

I can get a hold of my dad and have him dig through my stuff to see if he can find it.. I"m thinking that if I still have it, it's in my storage unit in VA beach, as I made that run on a trip home about two years ago. Until I can either locate it or determine whether or not I still have it, I honestly don't expect anybody to believe itsince I don't have the slip on-hand to back it up, and I'm ok with that, as that'show it should be pretty much... ;)

Besides, I'll more than likely be turning in some better slips when I get home this fall.. I'll sit this one out for now until I get something definitive brudda..

I had to move everything to a new server (My old webserver was a PIII 1Ghz, 1GB setup on 2003 Server, New Setup is a 3600+ X2 with 2GB DDR2 on Vista)..
