damn yo that sucks who the hell lets a Viper SRT-10 get in the hands of a 17 year old. I am sure he was not aloud to drive that thing for insurance wise. Those cars are almost impossible to cover

I've learned from my LT1 that it is the worst thing EVAR for a kid to have a fast car....poor kid, both of them. One died and the other has to live knowing he killed him....

You have to be humbled by a car before you can respect them. Have to learn that you're not 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

I see two people to blame - the kid's father who is stupid than a doorknob and Trevor for not wearing a seatbelt. First off, the father is a complete moron. Learn how to parent. I'm 17 and I know that it would be simply stupid for my dad to buy me a Viper. People my age simply cannot control a monster as powerful as that consistantly. Secondly, Trevor is also a moron for not wearing a seatbelt. I felt REALLY bad for Trevor because of course he died, but I soon felt less after hearing of no seatlbelt. That's just ignorant.

reasons like this are exactly why putting on a seatbelt is habit for me. Even when i am just sitting in my truck not running i will catch my self reach over and out my seatbelt on then i realize what the hell did i do that for. My sister never wears a seatbelt and i stress it on her to wear one but she just gets mad and yells at me. won't be my fault when her 95 jetta throws her out.

Suxs on all sides. That dad is a moron, the kid has the shame, and Trevor is dead for not wearing a seatbelt. It is not at all smart to give a car to a teenager like that and rationally expect them to obey speed limits, and be responsible.

My thought exactly. I m a careful driver and know how to handle my car. I am not saying that I m perfect cause I have done some stupid things. I have already decided that safety mods will go along w/ any performance mods I do to help out. Four point seatbelts look awesome and u r safe. Win win situation.
Sorry for semilong post.

When I was 17 my parents told me to pick a car and my first choice was a 67 Fastback. My dad was lenient enough to let me test drive it. Of course I didn't wanna look at anything else after that but my dad was wise and said "No, you're not gonna have that just yet." I ended up with a 78 Fiat Mirafiori 131 S against my will But hey, it was a car and it got me around and kept me from trying to show off on the streets.... which I'm sure kept me out of the hospitals and out of the morgue.

20 years later I have finally obtained my first Mustang. What the hell took me so long?

I might should have added in my little story that before I got my 'own' car, I was driving my dads BMW 5 Series, which I spun around a residential 90 degree turn @ 70mph, slid backwards into a Camaro parked in the street, bounced off that and kept going backwards into the next car in the street, bounced off that and ended up in the front yard of an ex-cop at 1 o'clock in the morning. Passenger & myself strict seatbelt enthusiasts, we both walked away unharmed.

So yeah, I have my fair share of "young & dumb" stories too. Actually, maybe an embarrassing amount as you would think one would learn quicker. Ooops.

Completely rediculous of that boys father to buy him a Viper. I would be willing to bet anyone that Trevor's parnets are going to hire an attorney and file a civil suit for wrongful death against the drivers father.
I would also bet Trevor's father will win the case if it goes before a jury.
I have a five year old boy who loves my Mustang. However, he will never get a rear wheel drive sports car until he proves to me he can respect it.
The same goes for firearms. I am an avid hunter and firearm collector, but would never just hand hima gun and say, "OK son, go into the woods and kill something!"
Very stupid.

The kid was just careless. When my dad had is porsche, he let my brother (who was 16) drive it and he was always careful and never tryed to do anything stupid, so it just depends on how stupid the kid is, not the age , but then again its like a 250 hp difference lol. And also experience helps alot so what ever i just said scratch that lol age does matter lol.

The dad is going to get his arse sued off. And as stated, his insurance is going to get off the hook because I doubt the teen was allowed to drive it under the plan.
What a waste
