Hello all. I am a new member and would like to introduce myself. My name is Tom VanKirk and I love cool cars, not hard nosed about any particular type, well maybe rear wheel american types, but can appreciate anything cool and fast. I currently own a yellow 2005 GTO 6.0l 6-speed(hence the Yellowjacket05 username), a 1969 Chevelle 406 small block-turbo 400/stall-4:10 12 bolt rear, and a 1964 Nova with aluminum head 327-4 speed(soon to be 6 speed)-4:11 locker 10bolt. I have owned an 1986 GT, 89 LX 5.0, 89 Thunderbird Supercoupe, 94 LT-1 Caprice, 92 Camaro 5.0 5 speed, 70 and 2 80 corvette's, and several old Nova's and such. I am not a stranger to the dragstrip, but hardly a pro. My chevelle runs mid 13's, my Nova runs 12.8-10mph, hopefully the GTO will turn high 12's if I can launch it. I recently cancelled my order for a new Mustang GT after a 5 month wait and no end in sight and after test driving a 5-speed GT vs a GTO, sorry but heads up they really are not in the same class, quality, comfort, or power. Before you slam me, I found the Mustang to be one hell of a bargain and the best Mustang I've ever seen, absolutely loved it, but the GTO was just one step better in most areas and I fell in love with the raw power.
Thanks!

I have to admit, I would trade my 2000 GT for an '05 GTO. aT 6'2" and 200lbs, I would love the extra interior room. Of course, the '05 GT is a lot roomier also..... But does not carry 400 horses off the showroom floor.

Welcome! The 05 GTO is a stout performer! Not too much on the exterior styling though.

Welcome!!

The GTO is a great car when it comes to power-- I must say that. I love the look of the mustang though, there's just something about it. Well, I'm not so keen on the 05 pony either, but it's all good.

We won't hold it against ya-- come on in and learn!
