Default 351 cleveland timing

I have a 351 cleveland in my 69 cougar and just put some 114 octane race fuel into it. Its got 12:1 compression and a 3/4 race cam. I was wonder what i should be running my timing at now. Its got an after market ignition system without a vacuum advance. Thanks Matt

I have never run race fuel in my Cleveland, but I set the inital advance at 9-10deg. Total timing is around 36, I think. I would guess you would run a little more than that. You may have to play with it until you find someting that does not ping and does not run you too hot. I just thought of something, I am not sure how much inital timing you can get in a Cleveland Dizzy. I have never tried to run more than 10deg.

IMHO you need to determine your total advance first as it is now. If it is more than 38-40 degrees then you shouldn't add any more initial timing. In general Clevelands like alot of initial timing. I run 16 degrees initial but my total timing is 36 degrees. What kind of dizzy is it?
