Hi,

In the middle of the process of switching from my C4 to a T5 and because of multiple leaks, no more oil pressure and poor compression, I decided yesterday that it was time to have my engine rebuilt. It's a 41-year old 289, clicking and giving mediocre performances. Sometimes it's time to spend some money :)

I am having it professionally rebuilt with a small performance upgrade as I switch from 2bbl to a performer intake with a 600cfm 4bbl carb. This, and the new transmission will really give me the feeling of a new car. As the standard A code is 225ch, I am assuming that I should get 235ch gross with the performer part and the carb which would make it 235 * 0.85 = 200ch at the wheels. That's going to make me really happy for now!

I am about to get a reliable base engine with a brand new transmission: who said it was difficult to make a boy happy :)

Just wanted to share with you.

Question: what would be the headers that you would recommand with this setup? I need the perfect compromise between a better sound, performance improvement and price :)

Thanks!

Hooker Super Competition with 1 5/8" primaries for headers, and look at Weiand's new Action Plus 8124, better intake than the standard Performer.
