You know, seeing all the bashing of certain products and things on this forum, I'll probably get bashed to hell for this, but here it goes.

I have an '08 Shelby GT, check the pictures, with the 5 speed auto and the Roushcharger added. It drives great, handles well in traffic, blows other cars away, and get's nothing but compliments. Even my diehard GM friend, who HATES autos loves my car.

If you wish to make fun of me, so be it, but I love Lilly.

- C

I've had plenty of negative comments about my car being automatic. Point is FoMoCo made two trannies for a reason.....different people have different needs.

I wish people wouldn't be so rude and brag about his or her "driving skills" in attempts to put others in their places...   that's just out of line.  Do you like it when people bash your car because it's a Ford and not a Chevrolet?    Same thing here.......each has its own place and it mainly is matter of personal preference.

My car is simply for having fun.    Bottom line.......we all love our cars.

This is a great thread for me, lol. I am actually going to be building my Mustang very soon and have come to this conclusion:

I love stick and have learn to driven it but the matter of the fact is, why do I need stick for a car when I have these major traffic conditions (I live in NY), my mother cannot drive stick, although my dad can very well, and again stop and go traffic is ridiculous in NY, especially in the city. If I lived upstate where the roads are open I would get a stick in a heartbeat! However I am stuck in a position where I can get an Auto and be happy when I drive and maybe made fun of by my friends or get a stick and be miserable at times with more feel to the car and road.

I probably am going to get auto but I still have to see.

Joe

Well I have a manual but will probably swap to an automatic at some point.

Before everyone starts in about my inability to operate a manual trans let me me make one quick point.

My car is worked on by Strictly Performance. The owner runs a true 10.5 car. It runs 6's at 190 mph. Its an automatic.

Let's face it at the track automatics rule!

That number includes all Mustangs including 6ers.   If you look at the most popular GT color sold (black) then manuals are twice the number of autos.

Got back yesterday from the Atlantic City, NJ Classic Car Show/Auction, and I saw alot of old Mach1's, Boss 302's, Shelby GT500/350's, etc ( as well as Camaros, etc) and what were 90% of them?  Automatics!...I feel like I'm in good company!!!

This debate and topic will rage on forever but I hope everyone keeps in mind that we all own Mustangs and are part of a great club. We all have our preferences and reasons for liking/buying one of the other but at the end of the day we all drive a great car with endless potential and possibilities.

Expect you might be.  Back in the day the muscle cars with the highest performance engines weren’t usually available with autos because they could not handle the horse power.   The survivor cars you typically see today at car shows tend to be the autos with lower performance engines with the high performance cars with four speeds demanding the highest selling price.  Those super expense cars don’t show up at the typical car shows.  Here is some back ground on the Z28 302 and how it was only available with a four speed but the same thing applies to other manufacturers http://musclecars.howstuffworks.com/classic-muscle-cars/1969-chevy-camaro-z28.htm

So are you saying that autos have advanced a long way and manuals are stuck in the past?

It is always the same arguement.  It is so funny how offensive men with auto's get when a chick in a manual beat them  Auto's are very boring and a big turn off on a sports car TO ME!  Could care less what anyone else has, I just know for me, a manual is the only way to go!  Dodge viper has it right!  No auto's!

Some men maybe, but not all. Do you have a sports car?

I agree. I'm not sure if she was talking Mustang or not. I could see an auto in a TRUE sports car a turn off. With my frame, I couldn't even fit in one anyway.

I HAVE HAD MANY TRUE sports cars!  MANY MANY!!!!!  Maybe that is why having an auto in a car is a turn off to me
