I enjoy both of them and if I had the money I'd buy both. Right now I like my auto as I can focus better on keeping it pointed in the right direction!!!!

A number of years ago I had a new 86 GT with a 5 speed. I couldn't keep myself from winding it out in every gear. Well my job required that I have a clean driving record so the GT was sold. 20 years later I test drive a 07 GT with a 5 speed and I guess old dogs never learn. So to avoid issues I thought that if I bought a GT with a auto I could keep control weeellll..... I'm not selling this one.
Be it auto or stick it is the greatest car value on the market for the money and like Heavyg72 said " I enjoy both of them and if I had the money I'd buy both."

One of the guys from work had an 80+ year old grandfather who lived in the old country, Italy, who would  visit him every few years.  He would always complain that he couldn't rent a stick shift in America, only automatics.  He said in Italy, only old ladies and handicapped people drove automatics.   I like Explorer Sports and my 03 was the last year that a 5 speed was offered.  Don't know what I'll do when that one has to be replaced.

I'm an Auto person by choice. But either way i wouldn't beable to drive a manual as i've tried it in my friends car and my left knee is pretty messed up so after a couple of minutes my left knee starts to flare up with pain so even if i wanted a manual i wouldn't beable to do it. But i love my auto and wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't know if it is representative of the entire nation, but at my local Ford dealer they had mostly autos when I went to buy. It was like a three to one ratio auto to manual.

I'm not in love with the Tremec 3650, but I'm still glad I went with the manual. I have an auto in my other car, so this way I get to enjoy boy driving styles.
"boy driving styles?" Freudian slip...?

Another auto or manual thread, quick, someone start up a "which CAI intake is best?" thread!!!    Or better yet, a V6 vs. GT thread, no no, a poser/not a poser thread!

5 spd all the way!

I know these threads have been done. I was just asking people to vote more than comment to get a percentage...

Great point Baddog! I have never owned an auto.....both are great but I like using my hands and feeling like I have total control of the car (downshifting, etc) and Jack I see at this point the manuals are in the lead! J

i have a stick, and i find it a lot funner, and it keeps me a lot more busy, like with my feet and entertains me. I can actually drive down the road and eat food while driving and shifting. If your good enough you can do just about anything in a stick that you can do in a auto, like inside the car wise, like eating food, changing radio, etc.

Eating food? Twice you said that. You're thinking of pudding right now aren't you tubby? You could have mentioned your shifting prowess while chatting on a cell phone or getting head from your girlfriend. I never realized how sinking a plate of nachos while grabbing gears could highten my driving experience. Anything's possible I guess...

No, i was just thinking that my uncle told me not to get a stick when i got my first car cause you couldn't do anything like eat, or play with the radio or anything. I was just saying that i can manage to do everything in a auto in my stick.

I'm just playin' kid, I get your point. Shifting does become second nature.

I love the Auto for around here in the Detroit area.  Too much stop and go for a manual in my opinion.  Besides, it compliments the cup holders very nicely.

Hey...not the Allen Lee from fox 2 are ya?   He's from Detroit.

Sorry off topic but I can't vote anyways...I don't have a "GT" .

The autos have the best of both worlds...put it in D and just go or shift manually.
Aw, you manny guys can't do that..can you. I'm also hearing alot of you guys crying about
gear grinding, clutch noises, clutch slipping, after market shifters, what rpm to shift at
how do I power shift, how do I launch, why do the autos always beat me...

Oh yeah..you manual guys, don't let your adrenaline get to you when racing and screw up a shift
because us autos will f#$k you up everytime!!! and eating a sandwich while doing it.

I'd rather be out-performed than out-driven.

Mine gets here in about 15 days.

Haven't bought a car with an automatic in 37 years or so, and no new car with automatic, ever.

Notgonna change now.

It wouldn't surprise me if there ends up being relatively more stick-shift buyers that belong to this site than in the Mustang-buying world at large.  Maybe a LOT more . . .

Well I knew it would happen but for a Mustang enthusiast site like MF there are a lot of automatics. I have always been a manual kind of guy but I wanted my wife to be able to drive it and she absolutely refuses to drive a stick shift. Funny thing, turns out she refuses to drive the Mustang at all, even with the automatic. Go figure.

I agree. the $800 option with the auto is a chunk of change that some won't spring for. Especially the younger crowd where incomes aren't up to speed yet.
