So i just bought me a new welder, and i am anxious to weld stuff. :) Among the list of things i wanna do is the exhaust on my car. I dont have any money after the welder to purchuse new cans, but i was wondering about taking off my cats. Does it make the car run any better? Or am i going backwards. I still have the stock single exhaust and can, with no tune. I dont want to jump right on in cause i dont want to make the car run funny either. And what about the sound? I live in idaho, so emissions is not a problem.

do a research on the science behind intake/exhaust, backpressure, etc. it will be invaluable info for you before you remove your cats or modify your exhaust on your own. good luck.
You will probably see an increase in performance on the top end. You may actually loose performance on take off though, or at least thats what the mechanic told me when I had my duals put on.
I agree. The muffler has to go. I would leave the cats alone. I installed a Ford racing muffler and a K&N drop in air filter more than a year ago. It now gets a solid mile or two better mileage and I believe it helped me on the drag strip as well. Also you can remove the silencer on the intake air filter box for just a little more. This is the muffler I purchased.
