I picked up a nice set of duel exaust this last sunday from a forum member ..

I stoped by an exaust and muffler shop today... I asked them what they thought it might cost to fabricate and h pipe to give me a set of duals on the car..

There quote was that it was around 200 and a day of work..

Does that sound right to everyone on here?

And if I have them fabricate the duals for me , what set up do you think I should make it have for optimum performace/sound/ quality..

And...think I need to wory about my warrenty?

thanks

I have heard on hear that people say H pipe for sound, X pipe for performance.  Not really sure if that is set in stone though, i don't know if I agree with it.  I went to a muffler shop and they quoted me 300 to fab up duals if i supplied the mufflers.  so i said screw it, ordered the frpp kit, and am gunna install that myself.  so 200 doesn't sound too bad to me

not a bad price at all.  I was quoted around $200 - $225 just to install my FRPP kit which I ended up doing myself.

yea $200 is a good price considering they will make the pipes themself, i was charged the same price for mine and that was with me bringing the JBA kit thats pre-bent mandrel pipes.

the only downside to having shops fab up pipes is most of the time unless its a performance shop, they wont have a mandrel bender, so the pipes they make wont keep the same size all the way through and will have crush marks at the bends

    mandrel bent pipe = http://www.roadraceengineering.com/parts/tweekerparts/dpfirstbend.jpg

i cant seem to find a pic of pipes that arent mandrel bent, but basically where the pipe bends you see the crush marks so its not smooth, it also makes the diameter of the pipe smaller at the bends than  the rest of the pipe, as opposed to mandrel which keeps the same size all the way through(meaning more roomo for air flow), mandrel looks alot nicer(which is why i have it on my car)but i dont really know how much it matters on a N/A 4.0 mustang

I paid $100 to have my FRPP installed, it took the shop 1.25 hours to do it.

Not a bad price at all. I took my driver side muffler to a local shop. He did it all for $250.
Mid pipe, H pipe and his own hanger brackets for the muffler. He let me cut out the bumper cover with the car on the rack as well. There's a template for the cutout on this forum somewhere.

If they're paying for the extra midpipe and any necessary hardware, then yes, 200 bucks is an excellent deal.

    sounds like a good deal

crossovers only make a differance on GTs, the v6s are an even fireing motor, GTs are odd firing, basically a GT needs a crossover or will have backpreasure

same here. i supplied the full kit and they just performed the install. took about an hour which included them tack welding all joining parts. $100. if they are installing and fabricating the pipes, $200 sounds pretty good, assuming they do a good job.
