Please help 95 5.0 Clunking sound an vibration in neutal and in gear

from a 2nd to 3rd shift it felt like something let go through the shifter, then there was a very loud clunking sound and feeling though the car. the car still moves under its own power and the clutch feels fine. but while in motion and while in neutral it sound horrible, the sound seems to be coming from under the shifter. anyone have any ideas?

you want a noise diagnosis through the internet?? could be anything.. take it to a shop and have a professional diagnosis

....... anyway pretty sure it is a gear linkage. the car has a short throw shifter but the owner doesn't know what kind. probably broke it because now the shifter feels really sloppy and has a lot of play both up and dow and side to side. he has parked it in my garage and it will be towed tommorow. btu I just wanted some second opinions or people who have experienced gear linkage issues.

well FYI..... no one on here has experienced gear linkage issues with fox bodies cause they don't have any gear linkage that is external......the shifting on a t-5 is on a shaft that connects to two shift forks and on to the sliders on the output shaft cluster gear set up

.....so remove console / shifter cover and inspect shifter

thanks, we are going to go about doing that tommorow, and not that it matters because I am pretty sure he is still running the Tremec T5 but it isn't a fox it is a heavily modified SN94. Unfortunately the owner purchased the car with all of the drivetrain mods allready installed so we don't know what exactly it is running. otherwise it is running a novi supercharger and tons of other goodies.

foxes and sn95's not 4...have the same bw t5...cept in the 94-95 its a WC T5...other than that they are the same (minus input shaft length, and bell deepness)...

apparently it was late and I was suffering from fat finger syndrom, typo'd the sn95 and I am aware that it came originally with a T5 and am pretty sure that it still has it....but with the level of modification to the drivetrain fromwhen he bought it, I can't be positive that itstill is a T5. That being said I must admit I am not entirely familiar with the t5's inner workings..... thus the question.
