Alright, so I had previously posted in drivetrain performance that with mine and my wifes tax return, she agreed to let me have $1000 in play money for my car.  Also, she agreed that after my credit card is paid off, I can buy the Paxton 2200 Intercooled S/C from Brenspeed.  So I was going to get a 62mm BBK TB and the no springs required cams from brenspeed but zkiller was saying that those TBs have had some drivability issues with our stangs, and that the cams wouldn't do much for me either and wouldn't do well with the S/C so I have come to the main forum to ask your opinions, what should I do next? My current mods are listed in my sig and I know the C&L intake will go with the addition of the blower.  By the way, the blower should come by summer time.  So if anyone has any ideas on some good performance mods, I'm here to read them.  I know that gears was mentioned.  I would think that 3.73 would be a good combo as I don't go to the track, yet.  So I want to maintain a bit of MPG with this car.

If the stipulation to you getting FI is to pay off the credit cards, then I'd apply the $1000 to the credit card bill to get you that much closer.

I realize that this may represent a significant departure from your current line of thinking, however, it is the most logical course of action to reach your goal of BIG power, quicker.

YMMV.

3:73 is a good choice but your going to have to call Brent for recalibration.

I still have 3.55's in mine, but if I'm not mistaken, you can change gear ratios yourself with the XCAL2, no?

I see what your saying about applying it to my credit card, but i've got that covered, got $3000 to put down on that card already.  It's been a rarity for me getting to do stuff to my car lately so the wife has appreciated my hard work for the family and gave me the no-nag approval for the mods, so I'm trying to get the most possibly lol.

Exx1976:  Ya, you can change the ratios with the XCAL2, but brenspeed would do it for me anyway when I purchase the S/C

Get some suspension work done, it will help out in a major way when you finally get a S/C. Do springs, LCA's, Panhard bar, and a UCA.

Dont even mess with a intake and tune.  Get a full exhaust system.

That's funny you should mention that Haze, I was just doing some research on that.  I just got off the phone with Brenspeed a while ago and they said the biggest thing with this S/C is that I'll be pushing around 480 rwhp, so traction will be an issue.  They suggested LCAs and some DRs if I wouldn't be driving much, but I still do drive my car a bit, not a DD, but enough to where it's pointless to have DRs.  I don't go to the track yet, not enough time, but I do occassionly have fun on certain roads (no flames on this please, I hear enough and read enough and it won't help to answer my questions).

So anyway, I've done my research and this is what I have come up with:

BMR HD Rear Sway Bar 269.95
BMR LCAs 134.95
BMR Panhard Bar and Brace 209.90
Steeda "G-trac Brace" 69.95
BMR UCA 135.95
BMR UCA Mount 134.95

Total is about $50 under my $1000 and I think that would be the biggest pay off in preparation for the S/C.  I got all my info from CrazyAl's post a while back.

+10000 on the suspension, make sure to get adjustable LCA's.  You don't want to have to get up into the UCA area more than the one time for install.

I won't dispute what Brenspeed recommends, but here is another angle: adjustable LCA & UCA, one piece DS in prep for your big power upgrade.  Once you bolt on the power adder, imagine what your current clunk-thunk 2k rpm shift on the 2-piece will sound like!

Disclaimer:  I do not espouse the same 1-piece/2-piece argument when it relates to women's swimwear.

Suspension would be the logical thing to do, as I am now suffering the traction woes that you were warned about by Brenspeed.  However, if I may make some suggestions:

Get an adjustable Panhard Bar.
Get adjustable LCAs.
Get an adjustable UCA.
If you're going to do the rear sway bar, do the front.  Otherwise, you're going to create a REAL bad oversteer (or is it understeer?  Someone will chime in and straighten it out - Norm Peterson perhaps?  Or Sam Strano maybe?) problem because the rear will be stiffer than the front, not a good idea.

My suspension mods that I'm planning are as follows (disclaimer - this will break your $1k budget, but..)

H&R sport springs (I don't want a HUGE drop, doing side-exit exhaust soon - already ordered it, just waiting for it to show up at the body shop) (~$250)
Koni adjustable dampers (~$700)
Adjustable LCAs(~$250?)
Adjustable UCA(~$180)
Adjustable PHB(~$150)

The other thing you might want to look into is wider rubber..  For $1k you could order a set of wider wheels, and get the rubber later..

The 1-piece DS is also a good idea..  I have that on my list at some point this season..

NO !!!!!!  Don't make the same mistake I did, yes you can update the ratio in your XCAL2 but that only adjusts your
speedometer.  When I upgraded to 3.73s I loaded up my tune and adjusted with the XCAL to 3.73 and I thought everything
was great, but then I drove the car and it didn't seem much different than when I had the ole 3.31s, in fact worse !!!!  I called up
Bamachips and Doug said you need a new tune dude, he sent me a new one made for the higher gear ratio and whammy !!!
Funny thing is this time I uploaded it without changing parameters and the speedo was all screwed up, now at least I knew the car
was set-up for the correct gear ratio, I made the change in XCAL and re-uploaded and now I am in good.

The seat of the pants response actually USING the better gear ratio is awesome, now I have to put it to use and see if I can get into the 12s!!

Just goes to show a BSEE. doesn't mean anything when your dumb to begin with      LOL

thanks

I've also been toying with the idea of a wider tire in the back, any ideas on a good size and brand?  I've done some research, but still can't make a good decision.  The M/T Streets are just not a option for me, I drive just enough to where they would burn up in a year.  I want this thing as streetable as possible with this S/C and that's kind of what I'm trying to decide with this pre-S/C $1000 mod money.  I just don't want to be at a light and then roast my tires so bad that someone in a stock civic will get like 5 lengths before I hook.

Then don't put your foot that far in it.

I have Nitto 555's for mine, but I haven't driven it yet with them on there.  I went 285 in the rear.

I was actually looking at Saleen S/C's today, just for pricing, but it seems to be more that what I want to spend.  I know, people would say, then just add the $1000 to your S/C money, but that would do nothing for me.  I would have all this power, with nothing but stock suspension and the stock pirelli's trying to keep me in line, and I also like the power I get out of the Paxton kit for the price.  I already have the SCT X-Cal 2 so I get to knock off 210 from the package.  But 480rwhp for only 4.5k seems like gold to me.

If I decided to get new rubber for the rear, what suspension mods do you guys think I could drop?  I still want to get LCAs (Gonna go adjustable) but I also want to get any other suspension pieces I can if I do decide to get new rubber and still stay at 1k.

Well whiteflash, the gears won't be fun to drive with once the S/C is on and the pulley won't do anything either.  The HIDs I want someday, but my dad always told me, "start with the performance first, no one will see what it looks like when it's blowing their doors off".  But if I wasn't getting the S/C, then 4:10s were in my plan.

if you do cmdp's now you will get a few more HP, but you will take them out when you go SC.

Only true if you use a twin-screw supercharger..  If you get a Centrifugal, like a Paxton, then you'll be keeping the stock intake, so CMDP's aren't a bad idea..
