I need to know if I need the big return spring for the clutch pedal that is under the dash at the firewall, if I go with a clutch or hydraulic stlye clutch? It looks like installing a new pedal return spring would be a pain in the. Also, is there a clutch pedal stop that mounts somehwere in there? And if so, where does it mount? On the pedal, pedal support braket, etc. Any tips for installing this would be helpful, and pics would be great too! Thanks.

If you install a diaphragm style clutch (I would advise a diaphragm clutch) hyd actuated clutch, or a cable actuated clutch, you need to ditch the spring!
The only clutch stop on our 66 is the floor! There is a stop that keeps the pedal from coming up too high though.

The "return" clutch spring under the dash is actually a combination assist and return spring. It can be removed even with the stock clutch linkage. Removing it will slightly increase the effort required to engage the clutch, but it really isn't a big deal and will provide much better feed back.
As for a stop, I mounted a rear end snubber under my clutch pedal to limit the clutch travel.

I'm running hydraulic, ditched the spring and fab'd a positive adjustable stop, mainly cuz I need to limit the m/c travel to no more than 1" or it could blow the internal seals.

Ok cool, that's what I thought. I was trying to install this spring and after looking into a couple of sites, I read the spring isn't needed if running a different style of clutch. That spring looks to be a real hassle to try and get in. I think I will see into the rubber snubber thing, I may want that too. Thanks for the input.
