I got my plugs from ford, they were $10/eacb, went out of town to my parents, decided to do the change there.... they gave me ones for the 2004 and earlier models... my dumb self didnt check them. luckily mine only have 10k on them and came out with 0 problems, so i reused them. i dont plan on the anti seize lasting 100k... i only plan on it lasting 10-15k until i clean them again. if the anti seize is gone by that point, then i figure it will be useless and stop using it. rather not have that in my cylinders if it is wearing away.....

Gee. You're right. It is much more likely that a little anti sieze lasted up to millions of explosions inside the combustion chamber and facilitated the removal more than the decarbonizing penetrant. How foolish of me!

Please re-read my last post. I never stated that any anti-sieze possibly remaining on the plugs "facilitated the removal more than the decarbonizing penetrant".

Your first post was nonsense either way.
So I can't say with certainty that there was any left..... yeah I suppose so. The point is that I NEEDED the penetrant to remove plugs successfully.....so one can conclude that whatever anti sieze left (if any) was doing SQUAT and therefore it may as well have not even been there.

I just didn't see the need to "pick fly shyt out of pepper".

If you keep water off of your engine do you have a lower chance of having this happen?  I've heard that the hole holds water and seizes the plug....  True?

It's not water from the outside causing the problem,
it's carbon build-up in the small gap around ground
shield in combustion chamber.

I fail to see how my statements in that post are nonsense when they are based solely on your not being able to prove that absolutely no anti-sieze remained on the plugs. Hence, my saying it's possible some anti-sieze remained, and if so then it's possible it facilitated the plugs' removal are entirely valid.
But I never said that any remaining anti-sieze helped to remove the plugs more than the penetrant. Nor did I say that penetrant was not needed. Those were your unsuccessful attempts to twist my statements around in your botched up maze of pseudo-circular logic.
And now you're saying that any remaining anti-sieze did not make the plug removal easier. I'm sure you know that it's necessary to provide documented objective evidence in order to prove a belief.

I pulled my plugs on my baby at 10,000 km didn't bother with the tsb no problems! cleaned them they had very little carbon buildup on them anti seized them with ford nickel put them back torqued to spec. all I am doing for now once a year pull, check and antiseize them. I talked to my  head mechanic at the stealership he said he has had no issues yet to date with any 4.6 mustangs and the problem is more prone to the 5.4 trucks being under heavy loads, lower RPM and cheap gas etc!?  So  at 18$ a pop I will wait and run top fuel Sunoco 94 and hope for the best!

You've got it backwards.  The higher the octane the harder the fuel is to combust = more carbon buildup.  You should run 87 for more complete combustion (less carbon).  That's what these cars were designed to run on.

oops I  stand corrected  Sunoco always  brags  about ultra 94 being the cleanest!!! well I will just do a yearly maint on the plugs till i get the new champions as I can't wait to run a 93 tune... thanks for the info!

So reading between the lines if you are running a performance 91+octane tune and not stock  87 you are far more likely to have plug issues or is everybody eventually going to have to switch plugs prematurely to be safe??

Mine had a lot of carbon buildup.

I've been running Brenspeed's 92 octane for 9,000 miles.

And to whoever asked, yes I regapped the plugs to .45.

If these Champion plugs are worth anything at all, they are going to make a mint...

Four million vehicles affected.

Hi Everyone, I just ordered my set of 7989 Champions from Summitracing 12.95 ea. I have discussed the problem with my good friend mechanic. He said to ease the plugs out to where resistance is felt. Then spray Sea-Foam (breaks down carbon) on the treads and let it set for an hour or more, then ease the plug down and then try backing it out again. I have 12000 miles on my 06 GT and I am worried too!
What is the proper socket size to remove the stock autolites?

9/16 spark plug socket had to order it, I guess they just couldn't use 5/8 or a 13/16! that would have been to easy.........

Use 87 octane gas with the stock tune, 89 octane with an 89 octane tune, 91 octane with a 91 octane tune, etc., and you'll be fine.

So with the tune the advance etc is in order with the octane so that carb buildup will be corrected but doesn't that also have to do with the compression ratio of the 4.6 not needing 93 octane etc or am I totally off base here???

That's correct. A high octane tune's advanced timing enables high octane gas to burn more efficiently, and also produce more power.
BTW, the stock tune will also advance it's timing a little if high octane gas is used, but it's insufficient to take full advantage of the high octane gas' potential.
